Just need to cover the wings, put
the servos on and let's fly !!
So... here we go !
First, as you have certainly noticed, I work in my kitchen !
The table is not long enough to support the entire fuselage, so, half of
the built is "in the air "... My fuselage is a little bit like a banana, but
nothing really important (1 cm deflection on the tail) ! I'll try to
solve this problem during covering.
You can see the basic structure of the
fuselage... very easy to build... Once again, Vincent do a great job when he
design this plan ! - Time spend to finish the fuselage structure : 3
nights...It take much more time to cut each parts !!
Elevator and rudder...
Well, about a week of work here...
The tab is not functional, and he is glued here just to have a first look at
the finish elevator. I'll glue the tab after covering to simulate the
functional one.
So, let's go and have some fun now with the Cockpit !
The
cockpit frame is made with Stain tube... First I tried to use solder to
build it, but, seems fragile to me in case of hard landings...I used Glue
( epoxy) and solder
Maybe the think I love to do in a plane : the Interior
cockpit.
I've followed the documentation given in Vincent's web site. My
Instrument panel is made with Depron. The instrument are printed in High
resolution. I put Crystal tape on it before gluing it behind the panel to
simulate the glass. Cool effect at 2 meters ! :o)
Next, the wings !... My pleasure !! :o)
Building the wings... Steps by steps
White glue is used to glue the lower
spar on the balsa sheet. Note the thumb stack to keep the balsa in place.
Then, the ribs. Check the angle (90*) when gluing.
29 ribs to glue... Enjoy !
Check also the angle of the first rib
for the diedral !
I've used silicone to glue the key
wing. It's strong enough and the silicone stick in all surfaces (steel here)
Now, the upper wing spar, and you
drill the holes for the servos wires.
Its' finished. I use polyffila filler
( see photo). It's very light and have the balsa texture when is dry. Very
practical when you sand the wings.
The Beast !
Not finished yet, but lot of works already done !
Mail from Ian Davis :
Hi Fred
Thoroughly enjoyed the website. I'm currently building two 1/6 scale
bergfalkes from the Chris Williams plan. Two because they are so much smaller
than my usual models it just seemed a good thing to do! I found your site
because I'm searching for colour schemes for them.
Best regards and have a good new year
