Gliders > Slope Soaring
today
Happy Days:
Glad to see you & Chris got out Andy, surely everyone's been out on the slopes today, haven’t they???
In my case the Alpina, phase 6, combat wing all had a good airing and I nearly had my first flight of a new model, but I couldn’t quite get it finished in time for today.
Quite breezy at around 10am but during the course of the following few hours the winds eased off so that by 2pm it was ’gentle’ on Big L. It got warm towards the afternoon as well. I was actually removing layers of clothing. Makes a change from standing around feeling like a ‘Michelin-man.’
No pictures I’m afraid. I’ve given up trying to fly and take picies!

Hi keith
I got out to day, for an hour on my local slope. I test flew my new filp 600, which went well in the strong wind, also I had a quick flight with my ME 109, which went really well, now that the CofG is sorted.
Happy Days:
Hey John,
It seems there was only a few of us out on the slopes yesterday then.
Filip 600: :D …….so did Puffin finally decide to ship to NI? (I know they shipped a Filip 400 fuse out to me some years ago.)
I assume your 600 is the soarer, and not the electric version. Went well I trust? I believe the rudder is optional on those models, it was rather in-effective on my 400 version.
And the M.e. 109 was airborne,…….well done. I’m sure another member of this forum had trouble with the CoG on his 109. Had to be a lot further back than had been suggested,……… as I recall it went very well once it was sorted out. Bring it down to the PSS in March. It can have a dog fight with Fred's P51 :D
So it appears there was only 4 of us out yesterday. Seemingly none of the ‘Dublin’ guys flew, :? and our friends in the west spent the afternoon dozing in front of the fire having eaten too much Sunday lunch. :( (Some things never change. ) What a sorrowful show on a lovely day!
Although I think it might have been raining yesterday in the west of Ireland....like I said, some things never change!!

Fred:
Hi there,
No flying for me this week end.. Was working all wek end instead :!: :!:
No flying for me next week end again, I'm setting up my new workshop :D
Happy Days:
Working all weekend!! That’s sacrilege. (Personally I always considered work to be a much overrated pastime.)
But new workshop. Now that sounds good.
Fred’s New Year motto; "a place for everything, and everything in it’s place." Er Fred?
Me thinks, “If Fred is clearing out his garage he’s bound to find models that he had forgotten he had.”...................Don't forget you wrinkly grey haired friend in county wexford Fred :D
