Oirishman:
as i,m new to flying i,ll ask the stupid questions.
is it illegal to fly without insurance.
is it illegal to fly in a public park etc.

Fred:
As one of my teacher use to say, there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers!  :D
So, hopefully, my reply will not be too stupid

is it illegal to fly without insurance.

Yes. A bit like your car. You can drive without insurance, just don't get caught or have an accident..
Now, if you don't have one, you will not go to jail etc etc, but let say you are buying peace of mind.

is it illegal to fly in a public park etc.

Big yes on that one. And even with insurance. You will not be covered as the place you fly need to be a registered RC flying site. Rangers for example, can ask you to leave. You can also get fines etc etc. This is enforced a bit more these days because of all the Quadcopters etc etc that are flying all over the place without any regards to common sense.

This is a quick answer, I am no expert on this sort of things. I fly in remote places where chances to crash into object and people are quiet slim.. But I have my insurance and registered the flying sites. If something bad happen, I know I will have backup :)

Fred:
Oh, forgot, this also allow you to join MACI meetings, and organised MACI events too :)

Oirishman:
thanks for the reply Fred

Fred:
Hi all,

Well, it's this time of the year again.... Oh wait, no, not yet!  :P
But better get prepared! :) (as usual, due for the 1st of April)

So, General message to all of you guys, we are looking for a new club Secretary as Peter will not be doing it this year (many thanks Peter!   )
Anyone interested, please let me know! Very little to do, just be the name / address to send the MACi memberships forms/money.
And you can impress the girls with a cool job title :)

Talking about memberships, same as last year. Club fees are a whooping 3 euros, and will be used to pay the Club MACI fees (40 euros).
Any extra if any, will be redeemed in form of beers!

As a reminder, the ISR club has been setup to allow slope flyers to get the MACI insurance and register your slope.
This also allows you create/host an event if you wish.
All that for 3 euros!
How cool is that! :)

Any infos etc, please let me know of course,

Fred
