1/13 scale Grunau Baby IIb
Fred:
Hello there,
Here is my new challenge.. Yep, sometimes, on the Retroplane Forum, well, I must shut up and don't take challenges !! :D
Vincent had a simple idea... Why not make mini / micro scale models, but the same way as the bigger one ? Let's say, a maximum scale of 1/10 ? Who want to try ?
And that's enough for me to build another glider !
Vincent, at the same time, is building a wonderfull Cimbora ! ( http://www.retroplane.net/cimbora/page1.htm )
So, here we go !
First, the scale has been choosen, because of my smallest battery pack... The pack must fit into the second former.. That gave me the scale ! 1/13, that's around 1.20 mtrs wing span...
All the formers :
The pen give the size...
The smallest one :
All the front formers are made with 3mm plywood... Rear ones, are in 2mm balsa.
Taking shape... :D
The entire glider is sheeted with 0.4mm plywood, then a coloured varnish is applied (teak).
All surfaces are scale ! The covering is made with Japan Paper and a mix of water and white glue (around 50/50)
Only 2 servos (9grs) as the glider only have rudder / elevator functions.. We will see later... And it's not a big job to make a wing with ailerons...
Nice eh ?! :D
More to come !!

But roughly, there is 5 evenings worth of work.
