P51D - EPP PSS

<< < (3/4) > >>

Fred:
Hi all,
Just back from the slope, where the P51 has made is maiden flight !
Not that windy, but launch anyway (EPP... don't break, that help !).. Well, perfect !
A bit up at the elevator, and that's it !  :D
Fly fast, but can be almost stopped in the air using a bit of down aileron (great to have 2 servos here !)... Did a bit of aerobatics and all is performing well, as far as you can go without rudder...
No problem to find lift is the relatively poor conditions too  :D
Well, really happy !
Had to stop due to the rain coming, so I hope tomorrow the weather will be better on the rain front to have another go and test the thing more !  :D

Hopefully, photos and videos tomorrow !

Ron:
That P51 looks really good Fred :D

And so easy/quick to build. Well for you anyway

Is that the 1.2m or the 1.8m?
I'm quite tempted by it myself. But the AlfaJet looks good too, except that it might be even faster, and that pointed nose  :?:  Asking for a losing dual with the ground.
What do you think Fred?

Ron

Fred:
Hi Ron,

Thanks for the P51 !  :D
This is the "small" one (1.2mtrs).
I was mostly surprise that a big wind was not needed to fly ! But I have to admit that the 2 servos for the ailerons is a real plus, but having the ailerons down was not required in today's wind, but that mean I can fly it in even less wind  :D  I'll have to try !

For the AlphaJet, I don't really know.. It's just a bit more tricky to build, but I think the flight will be more or less the same as the P51. The profile on the AlphaJet is a RG15, a polyvalent profile.

After that, I don't really know, more a question of taste

You will certainly see it fly in Cork, that will give you an idea !  :D

Sean:
Glad to hear it flew so well! Can't wait to see it in action, or the video?

Seán

Peter:
Glad to hear the P51 went well. Must have just missed you at the slope. Flew from about 1.00 pm yesterday.  Surprisingly good flying for a couple of hours with big storms going by to North and South.  Couple of lads flying a combat wing (Rory and Peter) - anyone know what channel 35.840 is?  Couldn't find it on my channel list?
