new arrival - skypup 1976

I got it as a kit

Took some 18 months to complete


Flew couple weeks ago at phoenix park. Just barely made it - only able to stay afloat at full throttle.

Upgraded now to 4 cell and 3 blade setup - should give twice as much power (in theory). Have not tried again yet.

It looks a sweet little model. With the flat bottomed wing and loads of dihedral it should be a very stable four channel flyer.

The extra celled battery should add quite a few extra rpms. (provided the motor and esc can take it of course.)It looks like that is about a 1200Kv motor, so an extra 3,7volts would add a theoretical 4400rpm.

 I’m sure I heard somewhere that three bladed props on model aircraft are less efficient than two bladed ones. Just a suggestion Dennis, but if you have a power meter you might like to try and see if the three bladed prop produces more thrust than the two bladed one before you try and send it up. (Just a thought)

By the way,….have you got pilot for it yet? :P

The motor is actually 900kv, used to swing 12x8 prop.

I am next to phoenix park four times a week these days, including Sat/Sundays ( kid doing rowing). So ... going electric is almost the only option.
