Fred:
First visit to the Tountinna Gang last night :)
We had the sun and the wind, but unfortunately, not the correct direction. Never happy these slope flyers!
But that did not stopped anybody to fly!
Gerry told me before hand about the weather (thanks!) so I only brought the small stuff with me, but had the ASH26 just in case the forecast was not correct.

The usual craic, and good banter.
We even had our usual car trouble curse, but this time, it was a first, with a battery pack falling somewhere in the engine block of a lovely French car :)
The usual 4 watching and commenting with the usual jokes, while one was desperately trying to sort it out :)

Anyway, great evening! Looking forward to the next one already, hopefully on the good slope :)

Thanks again lads for a great evening

Happy Days:
So, good weather but wrong wind. It can be a nuisance that.

Glad to see Ger back on his feet, :D  and what a lovely display of models.

Not quite sure what “a battery pack falling somewhere in the engine block of a lovely French car” means :?: . Sounds like a contradiction of term…Is there such a thing as a Lovely French car? :?  I’ve never known one! Ha!!  (Actually that’s not true, I had three Citroens during the ninety’s )

What is the black model in the 12th picture? It’s hard to make out. I can see the airbrakes so it's probably Freds or Gers.....

Thanks for posting Fred, maybe the Shannon lads will be out this weekend with westerly’s blowing. I hope to be on the Big L at some point myself.

See you later lads.

Little Keith.

gerryb:
great to meet up with fred after such a long time.  we had a lovely evening's flying even though the wind was roughly easterly, not a great slope on tountinna.

thanks for good wishes keith, glad to be on the road to recovery.  that black model is a flamingo contest from mpx from when they produced their fibre glass models.  wally fogarty owns it and flew it to perfection on the night.  his was the only model to really make use of the marginal lift on the night, plenty of wind but not a lot of lift.

our fly-in is on june 13th, so keep that date in mind.

Fred:
Hi all,

So last Wednesday, I had a second session down in Tountinna. The weather was not looking too good, but the Slope Soaring God must have answered a few prayers as the weather changed from low clouds and rain to what you see on the photos!
It was very windy and cold, but this time, we were on the "good" slope so all was set to have a great time!
We were 8 pilots up there, and I think everybody flew.
I re-maidened my ASW15 after a new paint job and a bit of TLC, and happy to report that everything went well. But it would have been weird otherwise with this glider!
I can't remember what time we left, I think it was about 20.30.
Happy!

Below are a few photos, a bit more on the gallery later  :D

Oh, and GB was drunk.. We had to carry him back in his car... Sad sad sad...  :P
