Hvolsfjall - Just so you don't think it's all rocks and sea!

Finally got the right wind to test out a mountain about an 90 minutes drive from home.
It actually has grass on the top side and a drivable path up the side.
So who knows maybe a certain Ka3 or a Straton might end up flying there in a not too distant future!

No sound of wind this time, just for you Keith!

That looks like a very nice slope Sverrir!

Looks like more than one wind direction is possible no?  :?:
Education is important, but flying RC planes and gliders is importanter!

It is! Should be flyable in V-NA wind directions.

I'm amazed! I had no idea there were such massive flat grasslands in Iceland. Bit of a surprise, being such a geologically active country. Is it a river flood plain?.Good to see the people in Iceland wear the same sort of summer cloths as in Ireland

Anyway, looks a super place to fly. And someone had the sense to bring a flying wing along to the party. Pity we didn't see any combat, never mind! Looks like a good time was had by all regardless.

Oh! and I much prefer the sound track to that of wind over mic'. Nice one Sverrir

L Keith.
Try not to run out of airspeed, altitude and ideas....... all at the same time.

Keith, they weren't wearing the same summer clothes as Ireland! I didn't see any waterproofs

What was the funny blue stuff in the sky? Not much of that around here this year  :(

It's all the earthquakes we have there, they tend to level things out!  ;)
There is quite a bit of lava under the soil but after the last "ice age" ~10.000 years ago, this part was largely under water and when the land rose it left a lot of arable soil behind.
Today this is the largest farming area  of Iceland.

That wing is quite famous you know!  :D

Glad you like the music Keith, it's by a fellow countryman, Olafur Arnalds, he does a fair bit of composing.
Might have heard some of his work if you've watched series called Broadchurch on the telly.

Ah, yes the blue stuff, I brought some of it from Ireland on my last visit, do you want it back?
