DYNAMIC SOARING

Brian:
Hi all,
Anyone doing any of this DS thing.
Does anyone fancy a 'trip' to the 'dark side' of slope soaring.
Where are the good places.

Brian

Fred:
Hi Brian,

Tried once a while ago... Not a fan of that sort of flying. But I saw  some French guys doing it at a much higher level, and I have to admit that is impressive to watch ! Just the sound of the glider, it's mad ! No videos can be justice to that ! The downside, was a lot of broken fibreglass at the end of the session !

In Ireland, Mount Leinster would be a good place to start with !
On a westerly wind, going up 9 stones and fly the backside here...
Worth a try one of these days, out of curiosity  :?:

joe:
Don't know of any good places close by.
I've done it a little by the coast at Blackwater. This is not a DS spot. The back of the cliff falls away ever so slightly. You can really see it working when you do a few circuits. Even get that nice DS swwwwish. I only do this with a foam wing as there is very little space and you are flying about 2 metres from the ground to get the best acceleration.

Would like to try it a bit more. Defiantly gets the heart rate going. Although at Blackwater it is as much the challenge of not hitting the ground.

May be possible at Mt leinster with a north or south wind. Tried it once or twice with no great luck but could do with a bit more research!

Fred:
Same time !  :P

But I reckon 9 stones, on a East or West wind should do it...  :?:

joe:
East, west ??? You are confusing me now!!
On the southside of Mt Leinster in a north wind or on the northside in a south or south-west. They would be the backsides
