Any new machines lately ?

Fred:
Well, yes, and no  :P

Flaps will improve the lift Coef of any wings, up to a certain point, then, generate more drag.
Same flaps up will increase the speed up to a certain point (you are destroying lift (?) ) good for transition for exemple, to get to one thermal to another.
So, flaps are good as they  will increase your range of application, but you have to be carefull ! All profiles are not designed to have flaps.. You can add them, but the result might be worse than the remedy !
Some profiles are specifically made to have flaps, like some TP/SB for recent ones or Wortmann are made specifically to have flaps.
For a Wortmann for exemple, a serie FX xx xxxK /10 mean that the profile can have flaps (letter K), followed by the size of the flap ( size is 10% of the chord here)

And also pure lazyness ! Easier to build a wing without flaps !     :P

But maybe someone will have a better explanation! Based on experience, like for the Algebra, I put 1mm of flap (barely see it moving down!) and the thing keep going up, more, and that's it, the thing won't fly, just brake !

Have made a few decisions on this winters projects, so in no particular order:

KA-3 from Island model's Short Kit
Fafnir - from Vince Cockett Plan

SU25 Frogfoot PSS
Jart

and I still have a Bubble Dancer thermal model to finish!

Made a start yesterday, by making a foam plug for the Jart fuz and this will be made using the lost foam method.

Well,

I don't know, if I am right in this area here, it's a Motorglider, but some of You may remember the little wooden triangle I flew in Ireland at Joe's Cliff, Mount Leinster and on the airfield (where I met this funny britsh man named Keith). This was Horten XII.

I scaled it a little bit over the last few weeks.

See the result:

The weight is about 7 kg, Span 3,2 m. It's flying very nice and much slower than the small 2 m version.

Video of the first flights is here:

billscottni:
That looks incredible Lothar. You don't waste much time when you start building do you?

Hae watched several of the video's on rcmovie.de and all your models seem to fly very well.

joe:
Fantastic Lothar!
Looks brilliant and flies great too by the looks of it!
