Now that solartex is a thing of the past what's the alternative
No doubt any stock that's left is going to be way over priced

I still have the wings and tailplane of the skylark to finish I usually work with natural and then spray the covering
I'll have to measure up what it would take to finish the job

I dont have natural but have a 10 m roll of antique or a couple of 2 m rolls antique , or white

Recently bought Natural Oratex from https://www.oracover.de/ to cover my Slingsby Gull. Very happy with it.

I'm a bit late coming onto this thread, but when I wanted to recover ny 10' semi scale rudder/elevator Minimoa I went along to our local glider airfield and found the bloke who does most of the repairs on the fabric covered full size jobs. I asked him what the lightest material they used and he showed me some lovely heat shrink nylon stuff. I asked him if he had any off cuts that I could possibly use and what it was for. He gave me what he called off cuts and there was enough to cover the Minimoa, Grunau Baby and a lot over. so, what I am coming to is that if you are near a full size site it could well be worth a look?

Carefully cut to size and stuck down with balsa lock glue and ironed it is about as close to bullet proof as you can get. Clear dope covering and it looks the total dogs what-nots!

That remind me when I was in my old club in France. I used to cover my scale planes with Dacron. Leftovers from the full size guys.

Now, I highly recommend diacov. Used by the full size, and possibly the best covering material for our vintage scale gliders you can find! And cheaper also  8)

Diatex1000 is the lightest one, but I use any diacov without issues. Rolls comes in 75cm or 1.4m wide!

I’m not so sure Solartex is actually gone. I ‘googled’ solar film.co. Uk and it appears they have opened a shop on the web for direct selling. I haven’t followed up on this yet but I think it’s worth checking out. Anyone know any more than this? GB
