hi ralph,
forecast looks good for sat.  nw winds, so we should be at the top overlooking the lake.  check out  wind guru lough derg for fairly accurate
wind direction.  wind strength may not be so accurate because we will be on the hill.  if you remember how to get to the top, go straight there.  if not, i can give you directions.  anyone else who needs directions can ring me on 086 3497493.  looking forward to a great day's flying, see you sat

I hope to be there also. Whats Tountinna like in a NW wind. Is it easy to land. Only been to Tountinna once. Never had the chance to fly.

great flying site alan, long ridge, great drop off overlooking lough derg.  landing site good,  bog and heather.  a few uneven areas where you do have to be careful.  l have often landed the k13 here without any problems.  landing your k8 should be no trouble to you

Hi there,
Is there anyone coming from Dublin down to the fly in tomorrow? If somebody has some space for me and a glider that would be brilliant.

Thanks

ed

alan,  some of us locals plan to be there around 10am.  previously, some of our eastern brethren have been flying for an hour at that stage!  something to do with the sun rising earlier in the east, so i'm told.

joe,  haven't spoken to you in ages, looking forward to meeting up with you tomorrow.  any info on who else might travel from that side of the world?

Hi all,

That was a great day! Thanks to all who travelled to attend. The gliding was non stop all day long.

Now I need to source a glider that will thermal on a gnats fart as my so-called floater aint up to the job on days like last saturday.

Once again ralph arrived with part of a lovely model just to tease us all....;) Nice swift there ralph.. pity you left the feckin wing joiner in cork!! The lift changed from thermal to slope in the afternoon and you could have flown it. We could have all had a right good drool at it. lol.

The bunzzzz were well recieved. However a couple of issues arose. Firstly the supplier of said bunzzz did not expect such a large and ravenous herd of wild mountainy men. They did not last gliding time on the back side of a thermal.
Secondly a roumer spread across the slope faster than a swift with no joiner bar that some of the afore mentioned wild mountainy men had more than one bun...     !!!

I will say nothin.....

Great craic lads. role on the next one.
D.

Did you fly the Ka8 ?

Errr no. One of the electrical connections on the wing broke     But I have changed them for better ones that won't break. I got the chance to fly it two weeks ago at Mt Leinster. Got three good flights in. It's quite easy to fly. But then I broke it again   . It was my fault, to steep of a decent during landing resulted in a heavy landing. But it's all fixed now and ready for Retroplane.

We call that building experience I think  :D
That break at the same place or somewhere else this time ?  :?:

Good to see you have some flights with it
Next ones, next week end !  :D

Yup, it broke in the same place. Around the cockpit area. It was a bit more severe this time. Had to replace a section of one of the longerons. Everything else was fine. But it's ready to go now. I think it will be easer to land at the Wasserkuppe than at Mt Leinster.
