Hi there, and welcome to the forum :)

I haven't built one, but I flew one :)
Krick is well known, and although the kits are of old design and build style, they are very nice. Wood can be a bit on the brittle side on some kits I saw, but might be more due to storage than anything else, but will not affect the flying anyway :)

In the air, it is flying surprisingly well, so don't listen to the warnings about tiny tips etc etc. It does fly quick, and that is not a surprise for its size, but I do not remember anything bad about it! A very nice little glider!

Keep us posted on the build!  :-*

Hi Kurama, I built mine about 20 years back and originally covered it in tissue, but it was far too fragile for slope flying. So what I did was to go along to our local full size glider field at Nympsfield in Gloucestershire and ask one of the repair guys if I could scrounge some of the lightweight heat shrink material they use. He gave me some big, for us, bits of the material and that is what is on it now. In the right conditions it flies really well, but make sure the C of G is correct or it is quite lively! Build the wings upside down as it says and be accurate.

The wing join is a bit strange in that it uses 4 split pins, 2 overlapping in each wing root, to give a hole to put a wooden peg down through the 4. The idea is that in a heavy landing it breaks the wooden pin and not the wing root. I used some 'lithio print' aluminum sheet for the cover for the centre section of the wings.

It probably won't let me post photos yet, but if it will here are a couple of photos of my Baby. It really is impressive in the air and as long as you are careful building it it will impress you too.

Ta Fred. I have had that model for a long time now and it only comes out when the conditions are right  ;)

I covered it originally with tissue, but as some of our sites have bracken and other 'poking bushes' I got fed up with the repairs. So I went along to the local 'big boys' glider club and spoke to the guy who did the full size repairs and asked if he had any of the light weight heat shrink material used on the full sized jobbies. He gave me enough to cover several models. So I did the Granau and my Minimoa with it and now they are bullet proof against rips and tears. Now I have to land vertically to do them damage ??? ???

Roll on summer and I will get to fly it again? I'll see if I can get some more photos when I do. I still have the same box as you have Kurama. It's got loads of plans and Solar Film in now.

I look at this thread occasionally to see if there have been any updates. Kurama seems to have vanished?

I was hoping to see something of how the project is/was going? Any news Kurama??? :)

I may get the chance to fly my Baby this summer as we are now settling in to our own place at last, so here's hoping?  ::)
