Title: Visiting Ireland need flying contacts
Post by: Spinifex on September 03, 2011, 22:03:54 PM
Hi Everyone;
I am visiting Ireland from Canada, over the next six weeks and would like to meet up with some fliers. I am an old Paddy and a MACI member (IRL 26).
I brought a 1.8 m Pulsar Electric with me (most convenient to pack).
I will be spending most time in Dublin and Cork and west Cork.
Slope is fine. Am in Dublin for the next week or so.
Of course when I get to Cork, I'll be teaming up with my old flying buddies, Ralph, Kevin and Noel.  I've lost contact with the Dublin crowd and would like to do some flying there.
I was out flying in the 15 Acres today (first flew there in 1957) and enjoyed it very much.
My Mobile is 087 364 5531. Would appreciate the opportunity to fly, flat land or slope.

Hey John,

Welcome back to Motherland!  :D
I'm in Dublin this week, a bit tight on time, but we might be able to have a go at Keelakee if the weather is good one evening. Not here next week end unfortunately  :(
We keep an eye for Thursday / Friday evening ? Need westerlies.

Hi John,

A (small!) group of us usually meet up at Kilkakee at 2.30 on Saturday afternoons for gliding  - five of us there last Saturday with a nice light westerly with buckts of lift.  If wind looks OK next Saturday some of us may be there - at the moment the wind looks NE though. Will post here if I am going.

hi john,

welcome home,  i fly at tountinna near killaloe. if you're in the limerick area, give me a call on 0863497493. i'm sure we can arrange something together.

ask ralph or kevin about the slopes on tountinna, most directions work but you need electric for easterlies.

regards, gerry buckley

Thanks Guys;
Looks like I can make Saturday afternoon at Killakee. From Google It appears to be along R115. Not sure where exactly though.
I did fly there about 12 years ago.

Wind  looks a little too far south for Kilakee today - will give it a miss.  We usually fly from carpark overlooking the lake.

Title: Wednesday afternoon

Hi spinflex,
              Wednesday afternoon looks a good bet for flying at Killakee. Might go up late afternoon if conditions right.
John.
