NO!  I can’t wait till Saturday, (I might be dead by then) I need to know what’s in the box NOW!

Please tell me Fred, I’ll always be your friend, I promise not to make horrid remarks about you, I’ll kiss your feet……….( do I really mean that?)

You know what they say Fred, “don’t put off till Saturday what you can do today!”…….
“a stitch in time, saves nine,”…….
“an apple a day, keeps the doctor away,” ….
“salt your water once a quarter,”

Oh please, please, please tell me what’s in the box! I won’t be able to sleep untill I know :!:

Post by: Happy Days on April 24, 2012, 23:25:45 PM
I’m thinking, I’m thinking, but it makes my brain hurt,……(what little there is left of it.)

I can only assume it’s a container of a large amount of balsa. But a container of that size would last forever!

Fred said “Ok, let's say that will allow me to do big gliders easily!”

So I’m thinking,….. large single pieces of wood, instead of having to join short lengths,. Thereby making big gliders easier...?

Am I on the right path Ger???

I’ve just come off the phone to my sister in England. She’s a retired psychiatrist.

I happened to mention about Fred and his ’New Arrival’. I told her how big Tina was, and that she came with ‘Attachments.’

My sister was amazed. She said that in 40 years of practice she'd never come across a case like it. She thought Fred is probably suffering from Extreme Sexual Compulsive Masochistic Tendencies, and  that he is definitely a “Suitable case for treatment.”

She suggested he might benefit from counselling, but doubted he could ever be fully cured without chemical castration

I do hope he shows me how to finish my Mu28 wings before the men in white coats cart him off to the funny farm!

(It's such a shame. He always seemed such a sensible fellow. I think I might have to give this hobby up in case it does the same thing to ME)

mmm, just a strange thought occurred to me, would she be able to work for foreigners too?
(I'm sure you ordered the special version with (Irish) green lights, but she might be able to shine her burning light on other parts too?)

Sort of like 'rent a las   '  (things are getting dodgy now, better watch what I say)

Yeah, we are not really speaking the same language for sure sometimes!

Anyway, played with Tina today  :D
Getting there, just the mirrors to adjust, but fired up the laser, and made my first engraving  :D
50% power, and that thing cut plywood (4mm) like it's butter!
only disappointing thing, is that when you fire the laser, that don't make any of the Star Wars sound!! (it's silent   )

Ah well...

So, what's in the box?

That :

240Kgs of machinery that can set a fire in your house in second  :D

For the ones interrested, I have photos of how it works, pretty interresting.

First engraving :

Done in roughly 40 seconds, and I was not full speed  :D  (the wingspan is 30cm).
Next Saturday, I should do my first cuts and complete the power / material list / test.

Happy days!  :D

Verry nice Fred, and compact too,
I get  laser cut forms made for die cutting paper & board and I have been told the laser does not like some types of glues used in the manufacture of some plywoods and can cause fires.
Have fun,
John.

Hi John,

Yeah, this is especialy true for exterior plywood.
But I have a very good air extractor system (this is an industrial machine!)
Thanks for the link too.

So Star Wars is actually a fiction?!  :?:

Ok, final setup of the machine done, and first cuts made!
All ready to go  :D

The mirror alignment was much easier than anticipated! You use scraps of paper and a "target" on the focus lens. Remove the machine safety to fire the laser in open air.
Quiet cool to burn those piece of paper to mark the target  :D

Anyway, after a few test in different materials, time to do the first cut and presto :

All the parts for my ASH25 wing joiner system / ribs (in 4mm plywood)

And the micro mini Quark  :P
In 3mm plywood, and in balsa

So that's it, the setup is done, and so far, I am very impressed withis piece of machinery. Lots of wood on order.
This close this chapter, time to open a new one!  :D

Tiens, en parlant couleur de ois, je suis content, c'est pas noir, mais juste brun. Le bois est donc pas vraiment brulé en profondeur  :D

Talking a bout the colour pf the edge, I'm happy, as this is not dark (black) but light brown, meaning that the machine / power is setup perfectly as the wood is only very lightly burn  :D

Anyway, thank you all. I am now waiting for the wood, and I get started on the Quarks (I have around 50 pre-ordered!   )
After that, time to cut a few vintage gliders prototypes  :D

Ok, I bring that one up, as I found a video of the machine cutting plywood.
If you really are interrested in that sort of things!
Power : 60%
Speed : 40
Wood : 3m Plywood
You can see o the second part of the video what happen when you don't do polylines! That double the cutting time!
Raw video, as I am lazy! And thanks for my little helper  :D
