I must have been talking about it for the last 20 years! And well, this year, you will finally stop hearing me mentioning it, because I finally joined a club! (Well, outside of the ISR!
)
The club is the Shankill Radio Flying Club, located at the foot of the Sugar Loaf mountain, about 25 minutes from home, so ideally located!
I must say, of all the clubs I visited around Dublin, this is by far the friendliest and most relax about new comers, and to me, not a surprise their numbers are growing as I was told by Barry Saturday! Totally deserved!
I won’t bored you with the details, all I can say is that it is nice to meet like minded people, and as for me, when it’s not good for gliding, great to have another spot to crash my things
Anyway, here are a couple of photos, I’ll update here as I go along, so stay tuned!

Well done Fred and God help your new clubmates!

very few of the guys I fly gliders with are members at just one club. Nearly everyone flies power/electric with another club.
Enjoy your new club Fred

Alright so, I was quiet, but flying wise, I managed a few days with the guys last year, along a scale meeting organisés by the club.
More on that I guess as I was told last weekend they will organise another scale event in around August, and of course, gliders welcome
First of the year was a very friendly competition (it’s a big word! Was really an excuse to get out flying with like minded people! More fun than competition) and to my surprise finished 3rd on the day. Brilliant to see the first 2 were 2 young lads! Good to see the new generation of RC pilots really invested in the hobby!
All in all, good start of the year at the SRFC, so here are a few photos of last year and this year. Might put more if there is some interest
