Title: X-RES
Post by: Alan_Perse on May 02, 2017, 10:10:31 AM
Hi All.
Started a new project. A 2m res thermal glider called the X-RES. I got it from hyperflight.co.uk. So far I have finished the centre wing section.

Thanks Ralph. Yes the barn door spoilers are nice and simple. Hope to have it finished before the summer is out.

Very good Alan. Just been looking at the spec,.......less than 4oz/sq.ft wing loading......pretty impressive! and a three piece wing for easy transport.

Good choice :)

Incidentally, what's the toilet roll for on the bench? In case you suddenly need to use the loo having discovered you've glued the wings together the wrong way round? ;D

Finally finished building the X-RES. All that’s left to do is balance it and adjust the control throws and it should be ready to fly. Just need some nice weather.

Yeah, last Sunday would have been a good time to have tried it. You could always come down to Big L tomorrow, Allan. (40 mph. westerly winds forecast Ha!!)

Deutsches Segelflugmuseum.........good bedtime reading by the way ;)

Well, it flys. Flew it twice today at Lacken, in very light conditions. It flys in almost nothing. It’s very easy to control. Very pleased  :) :) . Looking forward to the thermal weather next year.

Looks great Alan. Glad it flies well.  I have an X-RES waiting its turn next up on the building board - trying to get the Singsby Gull finished first though but hopefully get on to it by the end of the year.  Perhaps we can have some F3-RES competitions next season if we can get a few more people to build them.  Seems a good option for accessible thermal flying with a wide range of kits available now. See https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2696827-F3-RES-Resources those of you who are tempted.

That does look really good Alan!

And why not for a competition! With global warming, Ireland start to be a nice country now :)

Bill would that be PuREI, for the plural.

Peter love the colours, will stand out well.
