Title: Flexing wings
Post by: andrew wallace on May 26, 2019, 17:32:59 PM
I was given this 1/4 scale Capstan recently that was built by a good friend of mine about 20 years ago
I flew it today and I noticed that the wings were flapping like a seagull
The main wing joiner is a 15mm steel rod in a brass box
How do I stop the wing flexing  it's really bad

I've decided to strengthen the wing joiner setup as it's not good enough for the size and weight of model
I've stripped out some of the formers and going to replace with new wood and wing joiners

Hi Andrew, good to see you back on the forum. Capstan looks to be a fine model, best of luck with the rebuild. I was wondering, how far into the wing does the joiner go and how well is it fixed to the ribs/spar? Might be worth opening up the sheeting to have a look. Hope it goes well for you.  Hello Gerry
That's something I'll have to have a look at, after taking the top off and seeing the way the brass box was fitted I'll not be taking any chances
I've been unable to get down this past few years as getting time off in work is difficult and we have to book holidays 2 years in advance, But I'm hoping to make it down this September fingers crossed
