A Very Merry Christmas to all Irish model Fliers from the east coast of Canada. No white Christmas here but quite cold.

A bit of a flashback for you. Who remembers Kevin Barry in his Heyday?  57 years ago today at the Lee Fields. Kevin, Neil O'Brien, with (I think) Tom Cross's fingers and a combat model and Kevin with a rat racer.
I was out this morning with my 2m Electric Mayfly sailplane. I still get out almost on a weekly basis, even in winter at 80 years of age.
Miss my yearly Irish visits because of Covid, but hope to make it in 2022.

I've got quite a few shots from the 60's. I need to go through my slide boxes and scan them. Ill make up a collection for you.  In the meantime here's a shot of Stan Cussen, Charlie Wilkins, Johnnie Carroll and John McNally from the1965 Munster Champs.

Happy new year everyone.
Nice photos John, I remember Johnny Carroll from when I first joined MACI back about 50 years ago. If I remember correctly he was probably our chief scale judge and judged at a number of international F3C scale events. I believe that he died while out flying gliders at Lacken.
In the photo of Kevin Barry do you recall if he was been given a countdown or was he shown the fingers to tell him to F*** off?

Joe.

Hi Joe:
I remember  a very young you and your father at the Curragh in the mid 60's before I came to Canada. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures of you or him. Happy New Year. It is amazing how many "lifers" are still flying.

Trip to Kinsale this morning in 25-30kph SW winds. French theme evident with Ralph’s Pilatus B4 pictured flying very well. Yellow and blue scheme worked well in the winter sun. Eoins 2m Quark handled the wind and faired better than dads mini Pike which had to be dug out of the hill after imitating a dart!!!! We left early as all getting soft. I think we need to move to a warmer climate !! 😀
Happy new year everyone.
