Anyone planned to go flying on Sunday ? :?:
Looks like loads of NE winds coming to us ! And hopefully, dry day !
-
Where do you plan to fly Fred? Mt Leinster or Kilakee?
-
Hi Alan,
NE, would be Mt Leinster, at 9 stones.
-
OK. I'll have to wait until Sunday to see if I can make it. Have a lot of things going on at the moment. Need to get some more flights in on my K8 some time. VEGA is ready to fly as well.
-
Will try and make it for sunday. Mondays looking ok
-
Yes Monday does look good. Looks like the wind will be coming directly from the north. Great for the nine stones.
-
yes,Yes,YEs,YES! I’ll be there. :D :D
For the very best lift on the “North” slope the wind should be coming from a direction slightly east of north, N.N.E. The north slope doesn’t actually face due north. (But now I’m just being pedantic)
Stronger winds forecast on Sunday.
Alan, don’t forget to bring your new multiplex model.
Oh, and combat! Who’s up for a spot of bashing?
Gonna be cold guys,……..don’t forget a woolly hat and a willy warmer! (Shiver me timbers)
Keith

Sorry lads, can't make it on Monday :(
I only have brownies points for Sunday... And I'll bring the Crystal for the maiden flight with me ! :D (sound like a really windy day! perfect to maiden it!)
I'll try not to forget the foamies for combat Keith ! P51 Powwwaaaaaaa !
-
I'll only be able to be there on Monday. I'll be bringing my Easy Glider, K8 and VEGA.
-
Though perhaps not a major issue, be aware Alan that with the lighter winds forecast for Monday, and it being a Bank holiday, there might be Paragliders/Hangliders flying off the north slope that you’ll have to contend with. :!:
The air space can prove a little, ’limiting’ when they’re flying.

Thanks for the warning Keith. I should at least be able to fly my easy glider. As for the K8 and Vega I'll have to wait and see :?: :?: .

Willy warmer at the ready!

Okay guys, for those of you who are interested in metrology in the vicinity of Big L. ( well,……25km S.E. of the mountain) here follows the latest report on the atmospheric conditions.
Wind speed: 15 - 20 Km/h
Wind direction: Northerly
Precipitation: None
Temperature: 8 degrees C
Atmospheric pressure: 1014mB rising
Humidity: 81%
The sky is heavily overcast here in Co. Wexford, and Big L is completely covered in cloud. In fact it looks like it’s probably raining on the Blackstairs mountains at the moment. :(
The downside is that we can’t fly in the rain.
The upside is that if the rain stops the ground will be that much softer to accommodate those slightly heavy landings that sometimes occur. (Well,….. they occur when I’m flying anyway)
With no sunshine it’s going to be up to the wind alone to disperse Big L’s cloud cover.
I’ll give another report in an hour

 Once again, thanks a million for the weather report Keith !
Raining in Dublin at the moment...
-
(The following to be read in an upper class English accent  )
Okay chaps. …..Weather here is much improved…… The sun has broken through……. Cloud cover dispersing rapidly……. The outline of Big L. is now visible……. Situation improving almost by the minute!
Wind Speed has increased ,………..20 gusting to 30 Km/h
Wind direction also changed,………now N.E.
Absolutely Spiffing What!
I’ll be flying from about ‘O‘-Eleven hundred ….. See you there,…
Tally Ho!
-
Great !
I'll there at around 11, 11h30 (minding the kids now... Everything have a price ! Damn women !! )
Weather improving here too, clearing up big time :D
-
Yea’ I gotta get away from the house today. Mandy’s getting a new horse. All she’ll be talking about for the rest of the day will be , bridals, girths, saddles and other rubbish.
Why can’t women ever talk about sensible things like centre of gravity, aerofoil sections, and angles of incidence??? :D
(They’re a strange species) :!:
See y' up on the slope.

Any flying done today ? :D
Flew yesterday with Keith and Ed... Was great... Between the showers ! :!:
But a few bucket of rain don't stop true slopers, and we managed to fly quiet a lot considering the day :D
And the day concluded by Keith flying a biggie   And a nice landing !
All that to say that this ASW22 looks great in flight ! (and the high visibility wing tips helped that day :!: ) And well done Keith ! :D

Hi Fred.
Me and Ed did some flying at The Big L today. Much better weather than yesterday. Unfortunately Keith was right about the hand-gliders and para-gliders :!: :!: . There was loads of them. They were having a competition. So I did not get to fly my K8. I only got to fly my easy glider, and even flying that it was a bit hairy. So many hand and para gliders in the air, and so many people just wandering about through the landing area. You really had to keep your eyes pealed.
