Slope Sites in Ireland / New slope site 1 hour north of dublin
« on: March 16, 2014, 17:32:36 PM »
Today I was bored so decided to go find a new to me slope.
Every time I'm driving home from Wexford or Dublin I look up at a radio mask and wonder how do I get up there?? If there is a mast there is usually a service road.
The mast in question is on the top of the Cooley hills just before the north south border.
Well my friends today I found the road YIPPEE !!
The mountain has slopes in ever direction with the best being north south and east. The west slope is good but the others are fantastic.
I was a prick and never brought a plane with me but going by the ravens there is plenty of good air.
All slopes are beside the roads so minimal walking envolved which suits me lol
The landing areas are mainly all heather so cushioned landings

This 1/4-scale replica of this internationally recognized sailplane comes with plenty of scale details including a hinged canopy and an authentic Red Bull trim scheme from the world-famous Flying Bulls. In addition, the foam wings not only provide strength, but also provide a more accurate representation of the full-scale airfoil. The fiberglass construction provides strength and rigidity to the fuselage, while features such as flaps and a spacious cockpit area for radio equipment make this plane easy to operate and maintain, and optional electric spoilers can be added. This great flying plane is ideal for sailplane and aerotow pilots as well as slope soarers.

Slope Soaring / Winter winds are here, who's flying ?
« on: November 24, 2011, 16:28:26 PM »
The first of the big winds have hit up North,
Made a lone trip to Slieve Gallion today but was blown of the slope lol
I got 1 flight when the winds were 67km/h but after a cup of coffee the winds at 1pm picked up to a steady 93km/h with gusts to 118kmph.
My Le Fish was all ove the place and I ended up detaching the tail plane.
I came home cold and wind battered but I was smiling from ear to ear.
I hope to be on the mountain again on Saturday so if anyone is free why not come join us.
I hope JP aint working
I want to fly his Quark quark
