Flew my Quark, first time in a while and she is fun to fly.

What settings are best for this model is it worth having snap flap, so ailerons go slightly down when pulling up and go slightly up when pushing down?

Thanks and tempting, but will have to wait other models to complete and fly first.

I used cyno to secure them in place and then some epoxy to add some more strength.

How to... / Re: Cheap covering film

I have used with success Hobby King and their film went on easily and is still on the models I applied it to.

I appreciate there is some bad press from Hobby King but so far no issues from me,

The LO100 is a lovely model, ideal for someone with Fred's ability to make a nice short kit!

Thanks Fred,

Will try this out and hopefully have good landings.

At last a decent blow for the Quark. Previously just flown in scratchy lift. Today was really good and the Quark was great fun. Struggle to land, so it is better to have aileron up to land or aileron down?

Well after nearly a year I finished my ASW 20, thanks to Joern for the encouragement.

Now on with the Pilatus B4,

Hi Brian,

I am still building my ASW20. The wing structure looks fine to me. Mike Trew is a competent designer. Peter and Joern on here have both built and flown the model and not heard of any mishaps.

For wing retention I plan to use white electrical tap wrapped round the root of the wing and the fairing of the fuz. Used it on scale models in the past and it is very reliable.

Slope Soaring / The Micro Quark.. For when a Quark 2M is too big!
« on: June 07, 2015, 22:38:46 PM »
Well I it was a nice evening a 9mph Northerly wind so a quick trip to the local slope and I maidened the mini quark and landed her safely if a little fast! Needed a few clicks of up! Had 4 flights in total taking a little of the extra lead out each flight. So on last flight all the extra lead had gone and COG was as per plan. I think it can go back a bit but no more lead to take out! Had the rates set to minimal movement and she was fine.

Once I get more confident I can reduce the rates (I have 4 positions). I will also mix some up in when I raise the spoileroms to help landings.

She was very agile and gets blown around in gusts.

Overall really pleased with the model great fun.

Slope Soaring / The Micro Quark.. For when a Quark 2M is too big!
« on: June 02, 2015, 22:26:44 PM »
Well my Micro Quark is finished. Just need to check the TX is set up correctly, add a little weight for forward COG for maiden flight. Mine did not need any lead to balance as per plan. Weighed in at 368g, or in old money 13oz.

Now need some good weather for a maiden.

Well my Micro Quark is nearly done, just got to add the nose and maybe a little lead, cover the nose, then she is ready for the maiden. Just copied the setting for my Quark 2M and made a few tweaks and radio is setup.

Enjoyed the build.
