[...] but I think the build looks great! I like the way he did the fuselage, neat and simple for a very good looking result for a model made of depron  :D

I agree.

I also built a plouf... 10 or 11 years ago! I used an integral incidence system... even with adjusted pushrods & axes, servos weren't accurate enough to have a "stable" neutral position! Trajectories looked like a rollercoaster        Nevertheless it was fun, as modelling must be and stay!

Following all advices written upper, just keep in mind that:

- Incidence (i.e angle between relative air flow and wing chord) must not vary during downwind phase: keep the nose down! - It is normal that your glider goes fast from the ground, but what's about her airspeed? Airspeed is the only reference to take into account...

- Because of downwind, your turn radius will be high at the beginning, and will decrease as much as the glider faces the wind... So don't hesitate to bank enough, at the beginning of your turn, to not let your glider go too far under the wind, otherwise she will hardly come back frontwind.

- And remember to always achieve your turns by using ailerons + rudder: you won't generate any slip or skid, which, added to a high incidence, could lead to a spin turn.

Here are a few advices that we give to full-size glider trainees...

Beautiful work Gerry   !

(I don't suppose you really meant to post in the "for sale" section, did you?)

No, he just wanted to post in the "for sCale" section

Great building, has your pilot been bought at AH Design's?

@Fred: toutes mes condoléances, on pense bien à toi et à ta petite famille...*

@Gerryb: Thanks for nothing... "I told you... My mother brought me to pass tests, I'm not crazy"  :D  :D  :D

You're right, Fred... A model coming from east, very far east... In fact it will be a little bit the same problem as you: build a glider, and then try to motorize it with a rocket motor...

I just hope I won't verify the big bang theory!

So... what was your solution on the Rak???

Ok, so maybe you could tell me which rocket you choose to make noise & smoke???     And where did you find it??? I am really a beginner in this kind of motor/engine...

Hi Fred,

I would like to know if you finally managed to use powder rockets on your Opel Rak, and how you calculated their power regarding the weight and drag of your model... I am looking forward another project quite similar...

Slope Soaring / Retroplane 2012.........
« on: October 11, 2011, 08:40:30 AM »
Unfortunately, even it the retroplane 2012 site looks great, I won't be able to go there: too many kilometers, no "retroplanable" model (My goevier has got 3 retroplanes and too much visible screws...), and no other retro glider for the week... and a baby is coming out from my wife in less than a month... Here are a few reasons for not being here at retroplane 2012!
