How to... / Voltage rating for deans connectors
« on: April 07, 2014, 23:01:10 PM »
Hi All,

I was swapping over a heavy bullet connection on a 14.4v battery to a deans connector tonight and the thought occurred to me that I was clear on the voltage rating of either connector. Has anyone any specs on these?

How to... / Cutting Uniform Ribs
« on: January 14, 2014, 16:42:16 PM »
For those experienced scratch builders among us. What do you do when looking to cut ribs uniformly? especially when you don't have a CNC machine handy ;-)

Tips and tricks welcome. Assume starting with a model plan and sheets of balsa.

Thanks

There's lillte or no iinfo on these places so just wanted to gather more details if anyone has input that would be great thanks.

Slope Soaring / Anyone near Enniskillen
« on: August 25, 2013, 00:44:47 AM »
Hi All,

I've a shot at a well priced powered trainer from a chap near Enniskillen. Problem is as part of the kit is built and he can't post it. Does anyone on the site here live near Enniskillen that might be able to collect it and bring it either to Dublin or big L if they are coming this direction at some point???

Just checking, thanks

How to... / Painting Foamies - The Answer - YESSSS
« on: August 20, 2013, 09:25:48 AM »
Hi All,

I've been on the forum a few times in the last year looking for advise on painting foamies. I've learned less is definitely more when it comes to painting in the first place but for those interested, the best stuff I've been able to come up with is a paint called LIQUITEX. Its a spary paint but is a waterbased palstic paint. It takes a little getting used to for spraying but is clean and tidy and gets the job done well. They have a huge range of colours to boot.

A 400ml can costs 10 Euro in Inspiring Ideas in Blanchardstown, they are a great shop and know a load about painting materials like EPP. The cans may seem expensive but when compared to the RC Modelling Paints from shop, you'll pay 10 euros for 150ml.

Anyway I hope this may help.

Slope Soaring / Decals
« on: August 14, 2013, 21:02:29 PM »
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this post but I'm sure Fred will set me straight if not.

Just wanted to say a massive thanks to Anthony Kavanagh for the Decals he's made for me so far, they are excellently priced, and he has the ability to create proofs out of very little information and some godgey photo's. The fact that he's also a slope soarer helps a huge amount to get the decals spot on

His service is fast and all electronic.... thanks Anthony really appreciated.

Hi all,

Just looking for some pointers to get a beaten wing leading edge to straighten? Big Keith was saying you can use steam or heat but just wanted to get. Step by step guide to making the repairs.

Thanks

« on: August 12, 2013, 23:24:55 PM »
I wear contact lens on the slopes and use Polaroid lens in my shades but I'm finding my eyes drying out in the wind when flying, has anyone had a similar issue and figured out a solution?
