Hi everyone.
I have a recollection of a mention of a date for Mt Leinster in September  but I cannot find it. Can someone point me in the right direction  or am I confused - again.
I haven't flown since Mt Leinster early this year or maybe even 2021- haven't even charged anything. Covid really changed us - I flew almost every Saturday for over 30 years but haven't really got going since lockdown.

Yes,
A grand day out - or was it 2? I didn't see the Diva on Saturday. Why wait till October? Warmer weather would be nice.

It might save your sanity - give you closure if we just decided it is an 'own design' or a bizta ...... A phase 5 wing on a home design fuselage or whatever.

It's just that I hate to see you suffer...........

It's very quiet!
Is there a plan for the weekend? I haven't flown at all this year - haven't even taken out a model. No - not that kind of model.
I have a few batteries charged however......

Thermal / Flat field / Re: Blanik Pylon conversion
« on: March 16, 2021, 23:25:55 PM »
It was built by Paddy Healy - in a few weeks if memory serves. I was put in touch with Paddy and Mervyn  Cooper by Willie Owens when I first started flying  - about 1989. When Paddy died this Blanik came to me but it was my son who flew it most. It had one notable thump - on a head on approach for a landing. At about head height Jonathan pulled on the airbrakes but only one opened. Before I could open my mouth it had rolled, tipped a wing tip and ........... but it was easily repaired and flew many times after that.

How to... / Re: Bending brass sheet
« on: November 24, 2020, 09:17:13 AM »
Hi Peter.
I think the way to do this is to make both bends at the same time. A joggling tool is used to form an offset like this for joining sheet metal for car bodywork and the like. It is a pliers like tool with opposing steps in each jaw.
You should be able to set up a couple of pieces of steel in a vice ideally equal in thickness to the required offset. Put one plate on each jaw with the brass sheet in front of one and behind the other. As you tighten the vise the joggle will appear. A bit of trial and error to determine the necessary gap between the pieces of steel may be necessary. More difficult to explain than to do. I can do a sketch if you need it

IAA - NOTAM - TRAs / Re: NEW IAA REGISTRATION SCHEME
« on: November 21, 2020, 20:31:01 PM »
H'mmmmm
That was a marathon. Leave yourself plenty of time to do this.
Compared with the Motor registration / motor tax or the Revenue website this was slow and convoluted. Security of their database seems to rely a couple of hundred amateurs downloading an authentication program.
Glad the registration lasts 2 years - hopefully I won't need to access 'their' SRS (it certainly isn't mine) before then.
