Scale / SB13 “evo”

New to me model!
Got that one in April, but only had time to look at it now.
This is a modified Graupner SB13! Wanted one for a long time, and finally, the opportunity arrived! Wing has a couple of cosmetic issues ( we can see the fiberglass pattern in some spots), but let’s say I got it at a price I could not refuse!
Now, I call it “evo” because it is not a 100% original. I got it from Germany of course, from someone who knows SB13!
So, this one is a tad bigger, with flaps! Wings are foam with fiberglass and carbone. Everything else is the Graupner way.
Now waiting for the first flight, handy size to bring everywhere

Slope Soaring / Macon 2022 - 50th anniversary meeting

Alright, time to catch up a bit on what is going on!!
2 or 3 weeks ago I attended the famous Macon meeting in the south east of France, in the Bourgogne wine region
This year marked 50 years or the meeting running, so had to be there!!
Long story short, lots of fun, fantastic weather, and always good to catch up with friends
Anyway, this year, I participated in glider scale and of course, PSS.
For scale, I prepped up my Sdz50 Puchasz. Always last minute of course, I put stickers on it the morning I was leaving!! Anyway, did well as I finished 5th overall.
For PSS, 2 weeks before leaving, I pretty much had nothing in mind to show of!! So I brought my Shrike Commander, where I must say, flew brilliantly! I was also asked to test the slope with it by the judges and got tons of queries about it!
Unfortunately, it got destroyed in static judging and I finished 12th with it.
For my second model, I went full PSS Macon spirit, and designed a couple of weeks before going, a mini B 29 from my 4.5m plan. But flat! So I called it Flat B 29
I post something else about it, as this ( sorry “these” as I gave a kit to Pascal Cepeda from Silence Model shop fame in France) gave a big show at the slope as a few days before leaving, we made a small change to release a scale FF Bell X1!!
Both competitions flights were welcomed with huge applauses from the crowed and judges!
Unfortunately again, because of the flat fuselage, got hammered in static judging, and I finished 10th overall. But a great laugh, and those machines flew superbly!! More on that soon n the forum.
Anyway, a great year! Can’t wait for the 51st!! More PSS are in the pipeline, so that is going to be interesting for sure
Now, a few photos from myself, and where you see me, they are either from François Richard or Jean Louis Coussot (talking about Jean Louis, I was honored to be given a signed model from him! Emotional moment guaranteed!! Something I will treasure for sure. And if you read this, many, many thanks Jean Louis for the surprise!!

For Sale / SOLD - 5m Crystal Project

For sale is my project to make a Crystal glider.
Scale is 1/3 - 5m ws
Let's face it, I will never finish it!
Kit is an original MCM Crystal, number 5 from the molds! produced in 1995!
Included:
Wings: might need a repaint... Or a good clean. The wings are creamish, but that is scale! I would change the wiring, but saying that, it flew for years as is without issues (du grand Benoit as we say... And if you know Benoit...
Not in photos, but wing joiner is in also. All servos are in etc of course.
Elevator: Has an impact. Same as the wings, flew like that, not structural at all, just the rudder horn that went into it during transport

Landing gear: this is an old Fema. Works well, but I never replaced the axle pin for the wheel, just so you know.
Fuselage: Brand new!! This was produced from my original fuselage who saw much better days. Due to the pandemic, the project stopped, so you will need to add the canopy/canopy frame. That can still be bought from MCM in France (http://www.mcmod.fr/). Fuselage is perfect, just need the seams cleaned, that's all.
My Crystal was 12kgs, with that fuselage, you should be around 9 or 10 as a wild guess
So, a bit of work, but not that much really (put the wings on, rudder and elevator), and you'll find yourself with a nice 5m machine.

Events / ISR meeting - 9-10 April 2022

Thanks to everybody who came to the first meeting of 2022! Ralph counted 9 (or 11!) pilots at the slope on Saturday for a thermal day. And what was for a bunch of us, the first flights of the year!
And it was warm!
I believe everybody had plenty of flying with various machines, but looks like the RES ones reigned supreme on the day!
Here are a few photos, not a lot I have to say, spent more time flying! Bring on the next event!

Time that glue some wood!

So, proper wood kit, jedelsky wings, and optional power pod.
Let’s go, but not much to say really, it is just a matter of following the plan.
I started with the wing. Jedelsky so they are quickly done and does not bring any difficulties really.
This time, it is an oldie. Well, not really! Let say there is only a couple of them, and mine is the only ones ne built

Scale / New machines in the hangar... What are yours?

Alright, it has been a while!
So, what's new in your workshop for the 2022 season?
On my side, last year (October) got 2 new machines. a 1/2.5 Phoebus (5.5m) and a 1/2.5 SHK (5.8m). First flights for both were done at the Caen Modele Club, towed by Ronan, and both went flawlessly.
The SHK is around 15 Kg, and is flying on rails. Original looking machine that change from the usual modern gliders, and to some extend, the Phoebus in itself is also pretty rare!
The Phoebus is around 12Kgs or so, and is fully scale with all the bells and whistle. Canopy opening is also remote locked (weird, not too sure of the point, but that's 2 servos just for that
) At this weight, it's a proper thermal machine, and a real pleasure to fly I have to say. And the look!!
More reasonable machines coming in a couple of month, it's a disease I tell you!

Radios / Tray boxes for Jeti DC

Alright, while browsing the interweb, found a webpage, where you can buy 3D printed tray boxes for the Jeti DC! My prayers were answered as I was always wondering why oh why the tray did not have that!!
I loved all my other trays, from the Graupner MC, to the MPX Spacebox as it is always handy to have that roll of blenderm, the small screwdriver or that switch magnet always with the radio, not in the radio suit case!
Anyway, I had to have it! Cost was 25 € (seems to be 28 now) . Ordered it last week, and received this afternoon, and within 5 minutes, it was all put in and ready!

I believe if you look hard enough, you might find the 3D files, or similar, but frankly, for the price, worth it to be honest.
Contact with the seller (Joe) was swift and easy. The package arrived quick, and was indestructible! So, what do you get?
3 Tool boxes, one for each sides, and one, for the back, which I think is a nice plus! Printing quality is spot on, and the boxes feels light, but solid! No manual etc, but who needs it! I only scratched my head for a minute for the back piece, as there is a tube, in the tube , and until I saw the additional sleeve was sliced so it can be opened to be inserted around the bracket, it was not making sense as to where I had to install it
Photos are worth a thousand words, but in a nutshell:
Unscrew the tray plate (did the bottom one), only one side.
Insert the tool boxes on the sides. Everything fits smoothly, tight, but not too tight, and all measurement are spot on! Everything is as flush as it can be

For sale, my HK paramotor.
Only a couple of "flights" << Big words used here!!
Anyway, about 4 or 5 launches and that is all, but last one, fell hard on the back, and I broke the prop protector where the colson is going. A dead easy fix (see photos).
I will leave the recommended 3S 5200 battery with it (brand new).
Side note: wheels might need changing, very poor quality (thin plastic hubs..., just so you know).
On HK for 140€ without battery, yours for 90€ with battery.
Can bring to Mt Leinster next weekend of course.
