Misceleanous / dead cell in a 4-cell pack
« on: May 20, 2010, 21:46:01 PM »
Hello there,

I just discovered that  my 1 year/2 flights old 4-cell Rhino Zippy 2350
got a dead cell :(
The cell #3 is completely flat, in fact it has about 0.4v negative(!) voltage.
The pack was absolutely fine November last, when I had it fully charged.
It was sitting in a box for the winter.

Trying now to charge it using balancing charger -the charger just ignores #3 .
I wonder if there is any future for this pack apart from going to the salty bath ?

here is my BD-5 :)
built according to plans from rcgroups

unfortunately, the vector of thrust is pointing bit ahead of CoG
so any attempt to get airborne from the ground makes her digging the grass :(

For Sale / 3axis CNC+controller+rotary tool for swap
« on: March 29, 2010, 21:50:29 PM »
SOLD

Hi Everyone,

recent changes in the house layout made my tiny workshop even smaller,
this forces me to get rid of bulky items :(

So, first to go is 3axis CNC machine, complete with controller (you'll need a PC with parallel port) and rotary tool (something mid-sized, orange colour).

It is made of plywood, deck size is about A2.

I don't have a pictures yet, as beast is buried under household stuff...
Will dig it out if anyone is interested.

will swap for something useful like pair of HS85BB servos or similar (40oz/in, not thicker than 12mm... aileron servos).

Regards,
Dennis

Thermal / Flat field / good 2.5m+ sailplane - which one ?
« on: December 25, 2009, 21:07:21 PM »
Seasonal Greetings to Everyone!

The Holy Trinity (my Wife, Birthday Angel and Santa) have decided to make me a present - ARTF sailplane :-)
(ARTF - because same guys aren't happy to have 'construction site' on the attic).

So, I am looking for 2.5+m ARTF bird that will be good for flat field.

Here is my current list:

Spirit 100
http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=21210

Spirit Elite
http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=2187

Bird of Time
http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=18920

I would also consider a 'moldy' like
Super Rieti
http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=353

CMPro DX Ventus Glider
http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=25468

ASW-28
http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=22312

Any advise from the gurus will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dennis

IslandModels / WazEco short kit (availability)
« on: August 07, 2009, 09:41:54 AM »
Looks like this forum is a quicker way to contact IM. So, here is my question:

Quote
I wonder if WasabiEco wing kit is available yet ?

Also would be great if you have some balsa sheets to complete the wing and tail plane (or is it already included to this kit) ?

Thanks.

Road trips / Mt Leinster, July 4th 2009
« on: July 04, 2009, 21:43:34 PM »
The forecast said “no rain 8am till noon” , so I’ve arrived there at 9am … well, weatherman was wrong – low clouds and lots of rain :(
By noon thing started to improve …
Made two prolonged flights … Wow! So cool! The only problem – how to land … God made birds for skies :) My Stargazer just did not want to go down.
Thanks to 4th axle – spoil/flap-erons – she safely made it.
