Slope Soaring / zagi si reinforcement

hey all ,
just purchased a jp zagi si, i opened the box to find there is no carbon fibre wing joiner included in the kit, it says on the instructions that just putting reinforcing tape crossways on it will make it strong enough.
ive had a look at other forums and most seem to reckon just bullet tape on its own will be strong enough  ???
are there people who had one of these kits before out there ???
what do you think  :?
i am hoping to use it for genearl slope flying, and some combat

thanks lads,
she`s balancing at the 35% mark but flying, it seems to need a bit more lead, (elevator a little on the sensitive side) .
yeah i think your right keith , i do enjoy a little bit of lively flying   , but mabey i might go with my original idea of going with the middle phase advanced (with ailerons) this time, ah we`l see

thanks keith, if you didnt see it in your last post , well wear with your phase 6  :D
Unfortunately my phase 6 is no more , i could give excuses about conditions ect, but at the end of the day it was BAD flying, the gliderstein will keep me going anyways until i figure if i will go for another one or something else

long before i understood slope soaring i bought a reasonably cheap glider , called a protec malibu. as you can imagine it didnt spend long in the air, first time out i broke the fuz but the wings were ok   . Had them there for a while and was thinking of chasing up another kit, but after looking at the way the phase 6 was constructed and doing a little research on the general dimensions of glider fuz`s , i decided to have a go at building my own.I built the fuz sides out of lite ply with 3/8 longeons going the length of the fuz,i also had the wing tips of another scratch built glider that went horribly wrong  :!: , so i spliced the wing of that on to the wing of the protec malibu (wingspan 2.4m) original span 1.7m .And with a little unfounded worrying about tail area it was finally ready. i flew it last thursday evening in a 7mph breeze, joy it flies  :D  but never having flown a rudder elevator model before proved very intersting , yawing all over the sky in a semi controlled fashion
im just wandering would it be suitable or light enough for thermal soaring??
as you can see from the pic , i think i was a little generous with the tail/stab area
FINAL DIMS
wingspan 2.4m
weight      900g/1000g

jeez keith sorry bout your phase 6 , but fair play to you for getting back on the horse again  :D are you going to do the same colour scheme again??? eddi goggins ..... he flies an extra 300 (full size), theres some footage of him on you tube doing the air races , the knife edge passes along the beach were something else.
tountinna fly in , what happened keith was that i was set to go but as it happened i had one or two things to do , it took a little longer than expected , but when i did get to go up i cought the tail end of the fly in i arrived about half 3 - 4 pm , got two flights in before the heavy showers arrived , it was nice too see what the other guys are flying

yeah, thats my video alright
the phone was attatched to the phase 6 with rubber bands and a prayer
it was quite windy when i did it , and she did fly a little sluggish alright , the phone was just ahead of the wing seat so c.g. was fine.
as for the landing ....... that seems to be to be the best way (lacking flaps or spoileron) and using rudder and elevator to cause drag to land, as you can imagine it can get  exciting

as for the glide in , theres a good chance of me being around for that ,  :D
