A programme about James May’s attempt to fly a model glider across the English Channel.  :wink:

Well,…..it might be less boring than the other programmes on tv that night)

Yes, I saw it. :D

I thought it was okay’ish.

I’d liked to have learnt a little more about the technical side of how the model was controlled. They referred to gyros, motion sensors and GPS, yet there were guys walking around with Tx’s, so what part did they play in flying the model?

 Didn’t like the regular reference to TOY aeroplanes either. I might be a bit duplicitous, but although I often refer to my models as “Big Boys Toys” to hear them referred to simply as ‘Toy Planes’ seems, to me, to be rather demeaning.

All in all, I’d give the programme 8 out of 10 :clap:

Tx guys were supposed to be spotter/intervention pilots, so if it looked as it was going to endanger something they were supposed to gain control and get the situation under control.

Similiar thought on the toy side and I would have want to know more about the tech stuff, probably an arduino based autopilot. I'm also assuming they replaced the whole electrical system after the first attempt although no mention was made of it.

I was on site for the Gadget Show filming here in Iceland this summer and this telly stuff isn't very much fun. Lots of waiting for not so many minutes of filming etc. At least my Tx and Tx case got some screen time on that show!   :lol:
