Howdy, that plane looks good for a beginner though I haven't flown it myself. There is a video of a setup here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPre006a5cQ though not with a dx6i (and the presenters may not be to everyone’s taste).

Also I found this information online for your model and radio

Quote
Model type: Acro
Travel adjust: Gear (0) = Up 100%, Gear (1) / F Mode (on gear switch label) = Down 40%
Flaps: Norm = Up 100%, Land = Down 100%
Mix 1: Gear -> Gear ACTivate, Rate D 0%, U +100%, SWitch Mix, Trim INHibit

IMHO the only way to get to know you radio is be endlessly fiddling with the settings. I recently connected a micro quad to a radio it wasn't designed for and it took me hours fiddling with levels, expo, reversing (this was fun as the first time I turned it on the throttle needed to be reversed) etc but it was worth it as I now have a much greater understanding of my tx.

Enjoy flying your new model.
