RIP Noel
« on: April 21, 2019, 07:19:59 AM »
This is with great sadness that I just learned of the passing of Noel Barrett, aged 84.
Noel was a true gentleman, an RC legend and his good advices, craics and experience will be greatly missed and create a hole in our little community.
Condolences to all the family,
Good winds and blue skies Noel!

Education is important, but flying RC planes and gliders is importanter!

Happy Days

I remember Noel from his days in the St. Finbar's Flying Club (1951)  which amalgamated with Cork MAC about 1953.
Noel and his teammate Sammy Lake were the top C/L Team Race fliers  of the time and were always head to head with the late Stan Cussen and Alastair McConnell.
Around 1955 The Cork Gliding Club was formed and Noel backed away from model flying to become one of its leading members.  He later returned to model flying and quickly  established himself as an international expert.
I learned a lot from him back in the early days. His witty humour and friendship I will always treasure.
