Bambina build
« on: February 11, 2020, 17:10:50 PM »
I am building Bambina from the 2019 RCME Special Issue plan. Like many people, I'm building it without u/c and am concerned about the vulnerability of the aileron servos. So I'm using the small, thin, metal-geared wing servos from 4-Max and installing them so that just the servo arms protrude. I'm using a short piece of carbon rod to (hopefully) protect the servo arms. As in the attached photo.

I'm also going to use the Hobby Eagle A3 Pro flight stabiliser - it's small and light (9 gms plus cables) and there's plenty of room for it above the wing.

Definitely an idea I should have taken... Tore the servo out on my first landing. Put on a small undercarriage after that, and all was good until she went in vertically.

Cracking little plane to fly, I need to get it back in the air!

Looks like a popular model amongst us!  :D

I like the idea of the rod to protect the servo. I also use the good old trick of cutting a plastic spoon glued above the servo arm if big enough.
Education is important, but flying RC planes and gliders is importanter!
