ARF Phoenix 2000 Glider

Here some photo's of my new toy....
Still in the box as it arrived..( some type of foam )


Even the carboard box in side is wraped in bubble wrap..


All the parts inside are wraped in bubble wrap aswell


Out of the box and put together..


Lots of room inside the fuse from my 2200mAh Li-Po..


Tail and Aileron clevises are not the best ,
so I've fitted heat shink tube to them to stop them poping open..


Only fitted sticker to the elevator and Fuse ( pain in the a$$ to do )


So that's it, just got to wait now for all the running gear to arrive from Hobby King...

Don't get me wrong or anything...

But this aint no "Park Flyer / Foamie"

It's a Thermaling Glider


This 2 meter wingspan glider takes minutes to assemble and lasts a lifetime!
The wings and tail are made from tough EPO foam. However, the fuselage is made from a really strong blow moulded nylon skin with plywood formers, making it almost indestrucatable. Usually reserved for baby toys*.
The virtually indestrucatable fuselage is smooth and ridgid yet still light enough for the glider to perform.
Both the main wing and tail are screwed into place and the two wing halves have a carbon fiber rod for added strength.
The main wing . 1 servo per aileron for strong control surface movement plus there is a pre-moulded slot so you can add your own flaps later.

This really is a super strong glider that takes  minutes to put together and virtually indestructible.

Length: 1160mm
Flying Weight: 980g

Hey Sean,

Yeah, I moved it here (was originaly in the PSS section).
That was the closest section I have at the time (this is an electric glider, plastic/foam), and that's true there is no sections on the forum for this type of machine (electric gliders, foamies or not).
I leave it here for now, I'll create a section on the Glider part later this week end and move all the motor glider subjects in it. :D

Hi Sean

looks like a nice glider, hope it flys well. You mentioned stickers and how they could be a pain to use, wee tip here when sticking them to foam or any other surface, dip the sticker in soapy water before you place it on the surface, then when you are happy, use a paper towel to smooth it out. This method will give you the time to get the sticker in the right position first time.

Fred, why not put a subsection for E-Soaring under Thermal?
