Hhmmm…..Just as a foot note, One 9 pin DB9 plug & socket from Maplin cost £2.49. Then they want to charge me £8.75 to despatch the darn thing!!! So the total cost would be £11.41 for something worth £2.49.
Does anyone on this forum regularly order stuff from Maplin? _________________ I used to be indecisive,…….. but now I’m not so sure! |

Maplin? I'd rather burn notes out in the street.
Try Farnell.ie, I can't get it quite right but some things are shipped for free some don't.
I also use futurlec.com, it's a excellent shop with a fixed rate of shipping, it would be $5 for that part and the part woudl cost $0.50. But it's from Singapore so if time is a problem forget it as it takes some weeks.
I placed an order some days ago if I had seen this then I'd gladly get that for you. _________________ ..Nando |

Fantastic Nando!
I’ve just placed the order with Futurlec. Total cost including shipping = $6.00 (€4.50)
Thank you very much for your help.
(If you ask me nicely, I might teach you to fly a slope soarer! I’ve got a buddy box and plenty of models for you to try!!!)
Thanks,

Np, I'm glad I could be of help.
Their service is quite nice, you should receive an email with a postal tracking code, they do it for every single order.
Keep that in mind I may make you stick to your promise. _________________ ..Nando |

| I would have to agree with Fred. Those green plugs are a pain to solder strongly. I had two on my K8 and the connections kept on breaking so I had to change them. |

By the way, forgot about the 5 flat pins from MPX !
Slightly easier to solder than the green ones in my opinion
Shame, we have loads of them in stock here _________________ More Beers !

with the 6 pin multiplex plugs, once I'm sure all works OK, I pot the wires in epoxy to take the strain off the wire/solder joint _________________ Bill Scott

Now that’s a good idea Bill. I'd been trying to imagine some way of securing the outer insulation of the wires to reduce the physical stress on the electrical joints.
Your idea also reduces the possibility of corrosion on the joint as well.
Well done Bill _________________ I used to be indecisive,…….. but now I’m not so sure! |
