Have you attached the engine nacelles to the wing with velcro ??

Hi all

Let me first answer Alan and Peter's questions,

1. The filler I use is a Dulux ICI light filler, You can get it in B&Q for about £7.00 for a big tub, great for foam.

2. The engines will be held on with elastic bands as per the plans from Windrider models, it may work time will tell :?:

Finished of the tail feathers tonight, with home made decals, produced from computer paper and clear tape. It is not perfect, however this model is a sports scale or stand off scale 787 and the decals are cheap to make.

I put together the wings and fuselage tonight to give you an idea of how the 787 will look, should get the fuselage finished next week.

Well that's me for tonight, happy with the progress so far, can't wait to get this little jet onto the slopes

Well no flying today, so I spent the day working on the fuselage of the 787. I sanded down the filler and than applied the glass cloth in one large section along the fuselage. I buy glass cloth in 10m lenghts so this was a good way to reduce the joints between the cloth. I used the R106 epoxy which gives a good finish, however I will have to sometime make a vacuum bag machine which will produce a professional smooth finish!.

I will try to get the undercoat applied tomorrow if surface is dry, however that's it for now, happy landings

Hi all

Well now that the cold has gone and I am able to get back into the workshop again, I have nearly finished the fuselage of the 787. The painting as usual, did not come out as smooth as i would have liked, however, when you are working with foam, it is very hard to great a good finish with glass and paint.

787 in icelandair colours, still to add the main logo on side of fuselage.

The bottom of the fuselage was done with solar flim, and this was also a pain in the a*?, but the finish is fine for a sports model. All the servos are fitted and just the bottom wing panel to be fitted, then c&g done, all ready for Big L weekend, then, fingers crossed a test flight :?: :?:

Icelandair 787 cleared for take off! yes I finished the windrider 787 today ready for Big L next weekend. I had to just, add the large logos to the sides of the fuselage and complete the belly pan under the wings. Fingers crossed we get the lift needed to fly this bird.

Just explain to me how this bird is going to land, :?: John………surely those engines are going to be ripped of the wings, aren’t they? :!:

As for your next project, I’ll email you a list of models I’d like you to build for me,…..Up for it? :lol:

Hi Keith

The engines should come off on landing? they are held on with elastic bands and break away from the wings according to 'Ming' from Windrider models. I used a different system on the Big B52, so I will see if this method works. Fingers crossed for the winds and weather for next weekend!

As for the next project, I will have to finish the repairs on my 1/3 scale Tigermoth which I crashed last year. :cry:

The only problem with this model is the engine pods, they are to weak and break on landing, I strenghtened the pods with strips of carbon, works great now.

Enjoy the model Major, it flys well and looks soooo cool in the air!
