Repairs!!
« on: February 16, 2011, 20:49:37 PM »
I made a bit of a boob when flying on Sunday. Instead of going round again, I tried to force the model down and hit a rock. Worst damage was to a wingtip.
Here's the repair so far:

Remove damaged foam

Cut new foam to fit

Glue it in

Add Leading edge

And shape:

The epoxy is inside tonight warming up a bit before adding a layer of thin glass cloth tomorow

Happy Days

Looks a “Proper-Job” (very neat and tidy,) Bill. :)

I don’t know the wingspan so I wondering whether the use of wood to replace the damaged foam will upset the lateral balance of the plane to any extent?

Keith
Try not to run out of airspeed, altitude and ideas....... all at the same time.

only wood as a leading edge Keith, main part of the repair made up of pink foam. This is still higher density than the original white and I'm glassing too, so yes it will need lateral balancing.

Wing is a 60" RG15
