Well, as may of you know, I'm going to build a 1/5 scale Skylark 2. Here's a picture of another color scheme I might choose.

Ok, ok, ok...... Don't keep nagging.
You're making me feel jealous/guilty/lazy/left-out/etc.etc.
And as I do quite like the Slingsby designs, my name is Skingley of which Slingsby is a historical variation, and.....
I've got Martin Simons' book "Slingsby Sailplanes" staring at me from the bookshelf. 8)

There's no way I've got time to do my own plans from the book, so it will have to be plans from someone else.

Looks like I'm committing the fatal sin of starting a project  :o
Have to get rid of that pile of balsa and ply somehow...

Ron

Alright, on my side now :

1/4 scale ASH25 (6.25m WS) --> wings are being bagged  :D
1/4 scale Lunak--> in the workbench. Sb96 profiles
1/4 scale Pilatus B4 --> need to remove the fingers, and give the files to Joe for the wings !
Micro EPP Swift --> have to glue the servos!

That's for the fibre scale stuff... Well, what's on the workbenches anyway
I should put my hands on some nice fuselages next year  [-o<

Wood :
Kranich II and Blanik L13 for the winter, plan is to have at least the Kranich done for Retroplane!

i'm starting the crested wren and i've a sheibe sf 33 from cliff charlesworth plan under way. smallish model at 2.5m for el power. i've discovered that as i get older, my building speed is getting exponentially slower! before, i could turn out min 4 models a year. now, i'm lucky to finish 2. anyone else notice this?

Hey Gerry. Where did you get the plan of the SF33 from? I know its a Cliff Charlesworth plan, but the people who sell his plans, Model Activity Press, don't seam to have it.

Right then.
It was going to be a Kirby Kite at 1:4 scale. but thought I'd get myself back into building mode with something a bit less demanding.
So it's a T37 Skylark 1 at 1:5 scale - about 2.7m span.
Plans ordered......

Ok Keith
I just sent an email to the EPP company to order some foam. I should have enough for 3/4 Minitoons.
I think i can do a 1.5m or a 1.8m with the foam i've ordered.

Joseph, your back! :)
You should have been up on Big L this afternoon, ……. fantastical……lifts everywhere, 8)  (between the hail showers!) Flew everything I took up there,  :D even that little Filip of yours. (Yes it’s still flying  )

I thought you already had the foam :?: …silly me.

Not sure what size Fred has in mind to draw the plans for. 1.8 sounds good, but will have to find out, :!: …….FRED, are you there?

K.

Hey keith.
Back on the forum. Physically in Wroclaw, Poland. Only have EPS foam at the moment. Hopefully it won't take too long to get the EPP.
I have the files to cut a minitoons so will go with that and keep it simple. Will size up to 1.8m from 1.5m.

The basic one seems to fly fairly well and will take a beating. The coroplat tail is not the prettiest or most efficient but will take a hammering and when it's had enough it's easy to replace. So will go with that for now.

Andrew. Will you be doing a build log when you start building the K13. Would love to see how well those laser cut parts go together.

Nice to see you back on the forum Joe.
Title: Proof I am Building
Post by: billscottni on October 24, 2010, 17:06:46 PM
Some pics to prove I've actually started building:

Couple of the KA3 wing and the pilot from AH Designs

The Jart fuselage at the filling stage. I get it as close as possible using epoxy and filler, then paint with emulsion and sand and paint until I get a nice finish. Fuz shape done using the lost foam method.

The area around the wing seat is strengthened with carbon tape.

Finally for now, the fuz for the 2.5 - 3m slope soarer. It's a nose cone type and I built an internal "keel" for it, again using the lost foam method.

This fuz has a "plain" end to it ie no fin. Still undecied as to V or T tail, although I'm swaying towards T. The wings will be done when I get the CNC machine finalised

thanks john. yea, 'twas a very enjoyable build. fuse is covered in 1/64th ply which i have used before but in smaller amounts. nothing out of the ordinary about the wing, straight forward build but the tailplane and rudder were interesting as they had to be built very light and strong, plus they are all-moving units.
