look fine to me Ralph except April/May dates are pretty close together
-
Fred is heading to France later in the month (May) and a group of French pilots are traveling to Ireland at the same time. Hard to suit everyone. Hope to see you though Bill at at least 1 event!
-
No worries Ralph, looking at dates I'd say 3 maybe 4 events for me
-
Looks good Ralph. Hopefully can make Mar, Apr and Sep
-
Better make sure I have a glider available!
-
I've added all dates to NIMSA website. Maybe get a few more down from Northern Ireland
-
Fred will you put the dates in the rolling banner please.
Cheers
Ralph
p.s. 2 aerotow dates for Cork, so close so it does not clash with you going away.
-
Hi all,
Shannon MFC will have our annual glide-in on Saturday 13th June on Tountinna, near Ballina, Co Tipperary.
Contact me here if you’re interested in attending.
Regards, Gerry B
-
Hey Gerry,
I update our calendar with your date :)
-
Thanks Fred.
I should also have said, our Mid-Week Summer Gliding will start on Wednesday, 15th April also on Tountinna. Any one in the area is more than welcome to come and join us. We’ll be on the hill every Wednesday evening between mid April and mid September.
-
No problem at all.
I'll update with that also :)
-
would it be safe to say that Aprils' event is unlikely to happen?
-
Lads, as soon as this situation has been resolved will people go back to the hills flying? Do you want us to organise meetings?
Ralph

I am keen to get back flying. Locally first. What does anyone think. Our slopes are within 20 km for me. With golf courses open and anglers back on the lakes can we resume local slope flying with social distancing during phase 2? i.e. next week. Or do we need to wait for MACI to make a call so insurance is in place?
-
Honestly we have had little or no guidance from the MACI council. My reading of it is that we have not been informed that our insurance has not been withdrawn and as such we are still insured to carry on with our activities. It would be remiss of me not to remind people that we should observe the laws of the land and adhere to any practice that keeps us all safe these days. I am hoping to go ahead with the aerotow in Aug and hope to have one or two meets in Mount L before the summer is over.

Yeah, I agree with Ralph. If we wait for the MACI for any sorts of guidance, we are wasting our time (last, and only comms was from the 8th of May. Check for event cancellations...).
Follow the Government guidance, respect social distancing etc. I will post a club visual in a bit for our use as it looks like on the 8th, the 20Km travel extension will put a bunch of us at slope reach! At last!! :D
-
Unfortunately Kilakee is outside 20km for me :'( . But Lacken is within 20km.
-
Alright, so Monday is looking good for travels!
20km from home or within the county you live in
No more than 15 persons meeting outdoors (keep social distancing etc of course)
Never been to Lacken I have to say!
-
Just realised Shannon/Tountinna would have been this coming weekend :(
-
Hi all,
And on the subject of Tountinna Glide-in, obviously this Saturday has been cancelled so we have decided to hold our gathering on Saturday, August 29th instead.
Hopefully we will be free to travel as much as we want by then.
Hope to see as many as possible on Tountinna on that date.
Regards to all, stay safe,
GB

Looking to change the date for the last meeting of the year
Mount L 12/13 Sept 2020, hopefully to get more daylight and a better chance off good weather.
Any objections? If not I will change the dates in the original post.
Covid pending of course.
Cheers
Ralph

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATES FOR SEPT
ISR Glide in – End of season
New Dates 12/13 Sept
Location: Mount Leinster – Co. Wexford

Is Tountinna still on this Saturday (29th August)?
-
I spoke to Gerry Buckley last night, he said he was planning on running with Sat. He also said he will post up regarding the event.
Peter, have you been there before?
I will be there on Sat.
See you there, Ralph
-
Great. I plan to go on Saturday. Looks like wind might be northerly. Yes - I've been before. Lovely site.
-
Hi all, sorry for late contact re Tountinna on Saturday. One of our club members-Dermot O’Flynn died suddenly last Sunday and I wasn’t sure if the event would go ahead.
Anyway, we’re all set to go, meeting about 10ish and fly all day.
Re covid 19, naturally we will observe what is now the norm as regards social distancing etc. I would like everyone attending to sign in when they arrive and leave a contact no in case we need to do some contact tracing at a later date. Everyone should bring their own food and drinks with them, we won’t be supplying anything on the day.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, at the moment the forecast looks good with N winds forecast.
If you haven’t been to T T before, you can contact me here and I’ll arrange details on how to get there.
Regards, Gerry Buckley

A reminder SMFC glider fly-in is on tomorrow on Tountinna. Forecast is for N winds. Looking forward to seeing everyone who can be there.
