Well,...... I’ll drink to that, Mon Ami.

I’m looking forward to flying in 2011. :D  (If only to escape the prophets of doom and gloom that seems to be so popular right now.)

So, yes,……..I shall be flying. Yes, I shall be building, and, (no doubt,)………Yes, I shall be repairing! in two thousand and eleven.

Yes, a very Happy New Year to everyone.

One project in the testing stage - an Easy Star with a HD Hero cam on it  :D
First flight was fine, except it didn't like the cam jammed on top with an elastic band, and my landing could have been better
But no harm done.
And here's the evidence.

Well, going by the topography over which you were flying, Ron, I don’t think anyone could have had a “soft” landing could they? It all looks very rocky and uneven.

The flight seemed quite stable, no Rock & Rolling! You say “it didn't like the cam jammed on top with an elastic band,” why, was it a bit nose heavy?

Nice clear pictures. Be even better on a sunny day. (You‘ll be able to watch all your neighbour‘s wives sunbathing! :) ) (Assuming you would want to that is. :( )………What’s the frame rate by the way?

And next question,……..when’s the next flight??

Hi Keith,

Yes it's all rocks and bumps around here. And heather too thank goodness, otherwise bad landings would be even worse
To make matters harder, the hills tend to run WSW/ENE and so what is supposed to be the prevailing winds run along the hills rather than up them.

There is lift about, with all those bumps there has to be, and I think the electric motor to get up there to start with will be a great benefit.

That was literally the first flight.
The second flight, (and the third) without the cam, went better.
I had the cam right up on top, sticking up like a barn door, and I think it was a big drag and also fouling up the airflow to the pusher prop.

Sunbathing?
Oh yes, summer
I remember now.
Seems a long time ago.
Mind you, there are a couple I wouldn't mind.....

Frame rate is 30fps.
It will do 60fps at 1080HD, and if you take the rate back to 30 in the file, by changing the header info, you get smooth slow motion.  8)
So I'm told

Next flight leaves when the weather clears a bit, and when I've repositioned the cam lower down and nearer the nose.
And re-ballanced of course.

At least, not working in preview.
What am I doing wrong? :(

I tried to get a Vimeo vid into a post last week and it didn’t work either.

I think you just have to put the link in the post Ron.

And Christmas Day came again for me today, as the misses had bought me some radio gear for christmas, but it wasn't what I wanted...
So up to the Model shop in Cork and swapped it for????????

Another Radian...

Top one is my BOX MOD,just removed the part that held the Tx
cut the box down and covered with a bin bag ....
keeps it dry on a wet  grass, plus nobody knows whats in the box...

Er…………I have a question, Sean.

Why do you buy new radio gear every time you buy a new model?  :?:
Why not just buy a new model and swap the receiver over, and use the same transmitter? :)

You could buy a lot more aeroplanes than for the same amount of money! :D

Talked to Noel yesterday, and he said the Radians were selling well.
Now I know who to

Hi Kieth...
My Wife bought me Radio Gear(€235) with a  Tx that you can bind to sevral  Rx's for Christmas...
But I like the Spektrum Radios and I wanted Spares for the Radian
just incase I crashlanded....So I swapped with Noel in the Model Shop and got the best of both.... Spares and New Radio...

The Spektrum DX 5e radio  is going in my
Skyhawk Glider ( Which does not glide )
as that had a nasty cheapo china radio  with a poor range...
and as I'm getting better at flying I wanted something better in the SkyHawk which in now up-graded with a 1750 kv brushless motor ,
20a ESC , 1500 Li-Po's , SG90 Servos , Alloy spinner with 8x4 folding prop.
Not bad for someone that only started flying in October 2010..

Hi Sean,

Which radio was it that you took back?
(Your wife must have been disappointed - but then females are like that)

Only I know a chap who is on the lookout for a radio, and if Noel has the one you swapped, maybe he'd be interested in it.

PS....
You can bind all 2.4GHz Txs to more than one Rx, as long as they're the same type/make of course.  :)

My Wife was very good about it....as long as I got what I wanted

It was a Futaba 6 channel Rx / Tx with 4 servos charger for the Rx

If you ring Noel 021 4275971 he'll give you more info...

Ron,....... slightly off topic but if your friend ends up buying that Futaba 2.4 Tx and want’s some indoor rx’s I have a couple here he, (or she) could have for a song.

Hi Keith and Sean,

I've had a word with yer man, and he says he needs more than 6 channels, like 8 or 9, so I guess that's the end of it.

But thanks for the offer Keith.

Not sure he knows many songs anyway

Hey Sean,

There’s a guy here selling wings and fuse’s for Sky Hawks. Don’t know if you’d be interested. Cheaper than buying replacement planes…… Just a thought

You’ll have to do more than sing for it though
