Looks great Fred. Nice job on the painting. I need an airbrush badly!
An EPO as well so it's a lot more solid than the old GWS models.

And heavier ! That thing weight a ton (have to weight it, but that cannot be lighter than this thing actually is!), but plenty of power!  :D

And for once, the photos don't do justice to the model ! Looks much much more nicer in real life!

Love my airbrush

Hey Fred.

That looks great. You say that model is from GWS and made in elapor???
That is new, i remember their models like the spit, p51 and so on but all made of molded depron. Like my old formosa, poor thing.

Elapor is way better do you know if they improved the design too?
All the comments i got from the line of WW2 planes was they were hard to fly a bit unstable.

I hope you share some fotos or videos of it! :)

Hi Nando,

Well, it's not that new. I think that's nearly 2 years old. They did the P40 at the same time as a FW190.
This is larger than the usual GWS kits (1.10m WS) and the design is great !
This come from their new Chinese factory, but unfortunately, GWS is on the verge of closing down, so we might not see their new range of kits (a few jets were on the line...), but time will tell!

As for the flying, I don't think there will be an issue, that fly like a warbird, and as far as we know, nobody crashed it because of a bad design

Well, we'll see this week end !  :D

Gezz  2 years... my memory is not what it used to be.

That is definitely bigger, well i said that because the guy that gave me my formosa had before a Fw109 and the Spitfire both crashed with same behavior. While turning wing drops and they spiral all the way down out of control. Sorry not be using the right terms in english.

But like you said they fly like warbirds, and probably the problem was more the guy holding the radio rather than the plane. Still it was not the only one mentioning that.

He also crashed the formosa several and multiple times and even after all the crashes and all the fixes i had to do to make it fly again i love flying it and i think it flies very well.

As for GWS that is a shame i have several models from them, at the time they were quite cheap and rather good. But i guess the new chinese empire that as arised lately is killing them, like selling very cheap copies of the formosa and other planes.

Wow Fred that paint job looks great. I have a airbrush myself. Have not used it yet though. Are they hard to clean?

Thanks Alan,

My airbrush use a gravity thing on top, but attached to the airbrush... A bit of a pain to clean, but do-able with a bit of patience and lots of white spirit !

So, I bought a new airbrush, still with gravity feed, but more modern and removable, much easier to clean in my opinion!

I bought that one :

Basic, but enough for what we are doing... Do 2mm lines to the finest setting, up to normal spray to paint fuselages etc etc... Well, we'll see !

Aaaannnnnndddd done !

First flight made yesterday !

All good, fly like a warbird.
My CG was a bit too much on the tail, so that was a bit touchy, but other than that, all good  :D
Looks really good in the air... So good, that after 10 or 15 minutes, got bored (it's a plane...  :P  :P ) and decided to do full speed low passes...
The last one was slightly lower than the rocks, and I tangented the Planet full speed.
Very nice noise and effect !  :D  :D
And the plane ? Nothing ! You have to love the Elapor !
Just destroyed the cowl (very thin rubbish plastic...) and the prop mount (4 screws destroyed... Told you, full speed !  :D ).

But the plane, not a scratch, nothing !

So, Overall, a good machine, a bit on the heavy side if you are use to the other GWS products, but that really looks great in flight !

Fixing the cowl, I'll try to have it done for tomorrow  :D
