Hi Guys.
I thought I'd show you a movie I made of full size gliders slope soaring in Germany. I filmed it in March 2010 when I was visiting relatives. The hill is called Amoneburg which is near where my relatives live. The glider club is beside the hill.

That is actually a very pleasant little video Alan. Entertaining and easy to watch. Well done you.
I assembled some shots of full size gliders when I was bored one day during those long, cold, snow covered, winter weeks. Alas I didn’t shoot the footage like you, I ‘nicked’ other cameramen’s work and just spliced them together. (Nothing to do with RC flight I know, but flying none the less)
I can’t understand the words of the soundtrack/song, can anyone translate for me please?

Found this...
I love you, I love you, Oh yes I love you
Nor do I
Oh my love
Like the wave, irresolute
I go, I go and I come, Inside you my love
I go and I come, Inside you my love
And then I hold on
I love you, I love you, Oh Yes I love you
Nor do I
You are the wave, And I the naked island
You go, you go and you come, inside me me love
you go and you come inside me my love
and then we are one
I love you, I love you, Oh yes I love you
Nor do I
Oh my love
Like the wave, irresolute
I go, i go and I come, Inside you my love
I go and I come, Inside you my love
And then I hold on
I love, I love you my love, Inside me my love
I love you my love, Deep inside me my love
And then we are one
I love you, I love you, Oh yes I love
Nor do I
Oh my love
Physical love is a dead end
I go, I go and I come, Inside you my love
I go and I come
And I hold on

This has to be the classic gliding video/movie.
Bit before your time though Fred - 1968.

Trust you to dig out the ‘old’ clips Ron.
Nice bit of gliding though, what’s the model?
K.

I gather that yer man did all the flying for real.
But then that was what he was like. Did all the motorcycle stuff as well in various films.
Wouldn't be allowed these days.
Not sure what the glider is though.
Anyone able to identify it?
Ron

That one is easy :D

I knew you’d know the answer Fred. (Your knowledge of these matters never ceases to amaze me.)
Ron, Steve McQueen did most of his driving and riding stunts, but I didn’t know he could fly as well.
BTW (A little off topic I know)vis The Great Escape………
Quote: "Insurance concerns prevented McQueen from performing the film's widely noted motorcycle leap, which was instead done by his friend and fellow cycle enthusiast Bud Ekins who resembled McQueen from a distance. When Johnny Carson later tried to congratulate McQueen for the jump during a broadcast of The Tonight Show, McQueen said, "It wasn't me. That was Bud Ekins."
-
Ah, didn't know that.
Typical of insurance companies.
Yes, good one Fred.
