Scale / Re: 1/4 scale Grunau baby
« on: January 14, 2023, 15:40:30 PM »
Hi Adam
I can't recall what the final setting was, but if you go with Fred's advise and set the wings at +1.5 deg and the tail plane at 0 you won't be far off. This is what I did and I then added 1/32 ply packing under rear of tail-plane after first flight. Moving the c/g back may also have been an option, I have not had the opertunity to fly the model since then but it is easy to fly and it does fly very well.
Hope this helps, all the best and may happy hours flying with yours.

Hi Ralph
I hope to make it down on Saturday but all depends on how Eileen is doing on the day as she has not been too good over the last two weeks.

Happy new year everyone.
Nice photos John, I remember Johnny Carroll from when I first joined MACI back about 50 years ago. If I remember correctly he was probably our chief scale judge and judged at a number of international F3C scale events. I believe that he died while out flying gliders at Lacken.
In the photo of Kevin Barry do you recall if he was been given a countdown or was he shown the fingers to tell him to F*** off?

Joe.

I got there at 6.45. Low cloud and waited till 7.30.
Cloud lifted slightly and got 2 short flights in, staying low and close as visibility was only about 100mts at launch height.
