Sports / Baron 1914
« on: June 15, 2025, 17:39:26 PM »
There are some models that really define a hobby more than any other models.
In France, I think that would be the “Baron”, designed by Christian Chauzit who n the 70s I believe.

You could not go to a flying field without seeing dozen of them!  So popular, they had their own cup, the famous “Coupe des Barons” organisés all over France with hundreds of Barons for the best years, and they are still very popular today!

Anyway, I had to have another one, and 2 or 3 years ago, bought a kit ( not the original from Briot ☹️) but a re-kit by Aerokit-AMR in France.

Seeing the weather, that one finally ended up on the build table! Very excited about that one is an understatement! Brings me back years!

Here are a few photos.

Scale / Asw22 and Blaník L23 setup
« on: June 02, 2025, 21:00:26 PM »
Well, we can’t fly, but between showers, time to prep (finally!) 2 new gliders, ready for the next big aerotow.
1/4 scale Blanik L23, and her majesty, the 1/3 scale ASW22!

And the Bidule also finally got a receiver and awaits its first flight in Ireland. Fingers crossed, in the next couple of weekends!

« on: May 19, 2025, 20:29:59 PM »
For sale is a ready to fly Opale paraglider.

Well, at least I tried! 🤣

I’d say if you fly at the sea, might be good for you. Not for “normal” slopes, at least not with my skills anyway!

Includes original ballast set. Just add receiver and good luck!

For Sale / **SOLD** F5J electric fuselage
« on: May 19, 2025, 20:23:55 PM »
For sale is a brand new electric F5J fuselage.

Fuselage is carbone/FG, tail boom is Kevlar/ carbone (by the look of it!)
Weight close to nothing.
Tail boom is not glued

Fuselage nose is factory cut for a motor. There is a canopy hatch in carbon for radio access.
Length is 162cm, so would be for a 3m+ wing.

50€

Another great day up at 9 stones, flying at the NE slope. Lots of gliders, and 15 pilots showed for what was a cold, but great day flying.

Here are a bunch of photos of the day.

Tomorrow sun shoukd be better with more wind. Bring it on!

Electrics / Multiplex Tommy Jr.
« on: February 08, 2025, 23:05:09 PM »
New toy!

Could not resist. I like biplanes and the price was more that right on that one.

Not going to detail the build, this is Multiplex! Everything fits and assembled without issues.
Just some building details are a tad vague like connecting the ailerons to the servo extensions while sliding the 2 wings in place!
But other than that, all went like a breeze.

First flight was last Saturday at the SRFC after the rain and was a non event, looks great in the air and is fully aerobatic!
First landing, not sure what happened, but I left the landing gear behind after touchdown 🤣🤣

Promptly fixed and subsequent flight was just another non event.

I like that one! Good fun.

Sports / So, I joined yet another club! RWMAC
« on: February 06, 2025, 00:34:00 AM »
We’ll, when you love, you don’t count I guess 🤣

I have been invited a few times by Tony Green (thank you! 😘) to come and visit the club, located near Roundwood in Co. Wicklow.
I finally managed to get my arse in gear, and paid the club a visit a few months ago, and I was not disappointed!

The welcoming was just superb, and the setup is fantastic! I had the trusty Lentus with me, and was allowed to use the field as a full member for the day, and well, I joined! 😁😁 they know how to talk to men 🤣

More seriously, the guys are great, the ambiance is fantastic as a result, and the field is big with plenty of space for the big stuff.

Anyway, more later, but for now, enjoy a couple of photos :)

Thermal / Flat field / Macon 2024 TD Competition
« on: June 21, 2024, 13:39:41 PM »
Hi all,

I don't want to brag, but I will anyway :) Finished first at the Macon TD Competition :)
When I saw who was flying it (some people who are senior competitors in European champs and beyond), I only joined to keep busy (and you get a nice bottle of wine for participating :) ).
Anyway, had the nice judges to explain the rules to me real quick, and off I went.

Long story short, I won the damn thing on the 3m+, in front of my hero Jean-Louis Coussot and Patrick Bossin (see photo), so I was chuffed!

I have to say, for my very first serious competition, it was really interesting! Tactics, timing etc, with a judge giving you timing every seconds on the landing phase, bunch of people looking at you, the stress of it! Loved it anyway

Howdy,

Selling my H9 piper cub, 1/4 scale.

Come with all servos etc, just add engine. Was used with an OS BGX.  2.6m if I recall.

But! In need of TLC on the covering really. Fuselage covering is alright, but like an idiot, poked 2 holes in the wings during transport 😢

Photo with the guy is from the brochure! 👍
