It has a DLE 55cc engine, Hi-tec servo's, powerbox Gemini 2,  2 x 7.4v 2cell 3000mah lipos and Graupner radio gear

Misceleanous / LiFe Batteries
« on: February 24, 2016, 10:15:25 AM »
does anyone use LiFe batteries
i bought a couple of 6.6v 1600Mah LiFe batteries for a new thermal model and even bought a charger to make sure i was charging them right as i know nothing about them. my problem or my worry is how fast do these batteries charge??
I had a bit of a senior moment at the start with them and the battery checker but got that sorted i used the battery to set up the controls of the model and was surprised at how much just setting up the controls had taken out of the battery but when i went to charge it again it only took just over 2 minutes for the charger to say it was fully charged and  that was only at 0.5amps i don't like charging any higher than that
The batteries are designed for thin fuselages and made for servo's that need or like 6v

As it stands i have no faith in the batteries so i hope someone out there can shed a bit of light on the matter  :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

Scale / Slingsby Skylark
« on: October 02, 2014, 09:10:30 AM »

Picked this fuselage up at the weekend it's a 1/4 scale  Slingsby Skylark 3B it's from the John Elliot plan and has a wing span of 177"
unfortunately it came with no wings but my plan is is to strip the paint off the fuselage, strip the tail and rudder and build a good set of wings and hopefully turn it into this

That's after i finish the K13 and Titan tow plane

Slope Soaring / touch of bad luck
« on: July 08, 2014, 20:51:20 PM »

wind was blowing NW and 14mph so i thought i'd take the Flair K8 out for a flight tonight on Downhill beach but struggled to launch the big model on my own normally it's not a problem but tonight it wasn't happening  :( was nearly away on the 2nd launch but on the third i clipped the sand dunne and it spun the model round breaking the wing  :(
the models about 15 years old and i've only 4 hours flying time clocked on it, it will fix and i've added it to my bucket list ( things to do before i kick the bucket ) i'm going to strip the whole thing down and recover it  :D

Thermal / Flat field / NIMSA'S open day
« on: August 12, 2013, 11:39:00 AM »

Yesterday Nimsa held it's first open day, wind conditions were far from ideal with very few pilots getting to fly but there was plenty of chat and banter and we may have got ourselves a few more flyers  :D
