Hi Richard,

Thanks for the help.
I'm definetly thinking about it, I found one person selling one in Portugal already fully built. With rudder built as well and re-enforced (so far I'm not sure exactly wht they mean by this)
It looks perfect the only problem may be the servos they used HXT900 for all surfaces and I'd defiently go and change them.
So I might get it in a couple of weeks, if not I';ll get a new and build it like you said using fiber tape.

I'm still not 100% sure about this but, are the wings removable?
I can't imagine carrying around a 1.6Mt "cross".

Thanks,
Nando

Np, I'm glad I could be of help.
Their service is quite nice, you should receive an email with a postal tracking code, they do it for every single order.

Keep that in mind I may make you stick to your promise. :)

Maplin? I'd rather burn notes out in the street.

Try Farnell.ie, I can't get it quite right but some things are shipped for free some don't.
I also use futurlec.com, it's a excellent shop with a fixed rate of shipping, it would be $5 for that part and the part woudl cost $0.50. But it's from Singapore so if time is a problem forget it as it takes some weeks.
I placed an order some days ago if I had seen this then I'd gladly get that for you. :(

Hi Icewind, the Fox is by windrider, made from bouncy EPP and it flys fantastic.
I used tape to strenghten the winds and only glue used was to attach the elevator ! Total weight with battery is 437g !
I used a standard servo for the elevator , Hitec 55 for rudder and EMAX ES08MA metal geared servos for the ailerons. The emax es08 are the best small budget servo I have ever used. and check the price http://www.expressfly.org.uk/shop/product_info.php?products_id=281

This is my baby Fox fly on a windy day, the more you cuddle her the better she flys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just for Keith

Much appreciated the info provided.
Indeed it seems a great flyer, I found two version e-powered or pure glider. But I'd go for the pure glider version.

Been EPP and wing detachable (right??) makes it perfect for me.
It's about time I put aside the ones I try to build from scratch and never fly. ( Not sure why  8) )
So I can move to the balsa glider like the big boys in the slope. :)

Also thanks for the tip on the servos, for a metal gear servo that price seem very good. I was using Hextronik MG-14 on the same specs and price range but very often you find some that jitters...

What's that small fox glider? Where can I see more details about it?
Thanks.

You can see how the tricopter was built and the camera used in here:
http://www.rcexplorer.se/projects/tricopter/tricopter.html

Scroll down and you'll see a pic of the GoPro HD cam, it does 720p 60 FPS.

And here is the cam:
http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&productid=33

Check here the example videos:
http://www.goprocamera.com/video

Actually now it's cheaper: $259

And there are more for example this one specially made for FPV.

FatShark FS-DH1.
http://www.gowiththeshark.com/FPV_HD_onboard%20recorder_video%20piloting.html
$289

Can do as well 720p 30FPS, includes builtin battery and SD card for on-board recording as well as video out for FPV usage.
And weights 40gr!

How I know this? Well in PT there is a big and active FPV & AP community and I'm always digging out with some more people this informations and videos to share. :)

Unfortunately in IE seems that this is not very popular. :(

Just received the PCB's for my tri today, so I'll start soldering them soon.
But if I keep the pace i usually have building stuff I'll be ready around 2012. :(

ahah!
You've very skeptic Keith! :)

The camera used on the tricopter is a GoPro Hero HD, around $299 camera.
The same person flying the tricopter made the video edit and it sure did a great job.

As for flying the Yak, well I'm expecting to count with you're flying skills. :)
I should have my tricopter ready soon, so I'm counting on you. ;)

The tricopter is way more steady and easy to fly than a heli.
In this case he's using a quite simple tricopter build, just with normal electronics and 4 gyros.
It becomes and excellent platform for aerial videos due to it's 2 axis stabilization, I say 2 because the altitude isn't controlled automatically, despite there are some models that do it.

Radios / RX batteries...

Why not go for a LiPo?

Just remember to add a diode to reduce the tension and make the radio warn properly on low power.
I had the same problem on my FF9 and went that way... now I can't even remember the last time I charged it. :)

Aha!

Do you want to see my full collection of several years of AP?
All in one go... be careful if you live higher than the second floor as you might want to jump over the window... :D

True, AP or FPV footage unedited is extremely boring. I do suffer from that as I'm usually very lazy to edit them and allow that long parts of video to stay.
I believe that the ideal is to have small snippets in total making 2 to 3min and a good sound track.

Nowadays with the cheap cams I've seen some really cool ones combining different angles.

But usually the video are 10x more interesting to the person that was flying and did it than to the rest.

And now let me check you're videos. ;)

I've a SlowStick ready to be built with all the extra gear ready for AP&FPV.

For when a AP&FPV meeting in IE? :)
Is there anymore passionated people for filming from the skies?

Hi everyone,

I know this is witha  really short notice but I wasn't made aware of this sooner too.

Still here it goes, next weekend in Santa Iria, Portugal is going to happen another round of F3F, event that is part of the Eurotour. (http://www.contest-modellsport.de/)
Limited to 40 entries it already lists pilots from all around europe.
List: http://www.apsia.pt/e107_plugins/events/allevents.php?20
So it's expected to see great flying machines and pilots over the two days event period.

So if you happen to be around Lisbon in the next weeked this is something to check.

More Details: http://www.apsia.pt/page.php?79

Thanks.
Fernando
