Kilakee - 14th July
« on: July 15, 2021, 17:46:47 PM »
Some quick photos of our meet up last night in Kilakee.
Great to remove the cobwebs :)
Tons of chats, flying, and various emotions!

First, first flight of Andy's home made Jart. Looks like the trim launch, transformed itself into a first flight as the machine simply kept going! Looked very good in the air, not vicious at all, and it does look fast! Even on the ground :)
Nice looking machine all around. Maybe a tiny issue with the elevator incidence as it was flying slightly on its arse, but other than that, perfect. For a first, I don't think Andy could be happier as that thing is definitively a massive success!

Second emotion, is this time with my AVA, where on the second flight, after 10 minutes, decided to stop responding to orders, went into fail safe, and spiraled down very fast to the ground  :'( :'( Seeing the speed and the impact pattern, I was looking at retrieveing some small AVA pieces... But! There must be a God somewhere as it crashed on a very very soft spot of high grass down the slope! Other than my wing tip unglued (in fairness, was already broken!), not a scratch!! Nothing! Like new! Peter who came down with me (thanks Peter!!) was as surprised as me!
So it will live another day! I suspect an issue with the Powerbox BEC, so that thing is gone now, and new receiver ordered for good figure as I will not be that lucky twice!

We also met a nice modeler who was flying a Spitfire, and what looked like a small Pilatus B4 down the slope to us, but cam up when they were done to say hi :)

Anyway, I managed to get home just before 21.30... I slept well that night!!

Thanks Peter, Joe, Andy for showing up, hopefully more decent weather coming our way so we can do more of that flying thing!

Now, a few photos!
Education is important, but flying RC planes and gliders is importanter!

Nice pictures of our evening at Kilakee Fred. I have some red transparent Oracover Lite if you need it to repair the Ava wingtip.
