Any new machines lately ?
« on: July 20, 2009, 14:52:18 PM »
Ok, ok, I can hear Joe from here... "Not again!!!"  :P  :P

Well, yes, again, and again, and again !!  \:D/  \:D/  \:D/

The problem with Retroplane, well, after the morning headaches, is that you always leave with a bunch of projects you always wish you've never agreed to (well, almost...)
I now have 3 new gliders that I need to find (big) space for in the garage !

First one, is a 1/4 scale ASH25 Fuselage, a bit of work this winter to have the wings done (by the way, that's 7mtrs of wings...) and a 4mtrs ASW15, my new sunday flyer  :D

And finally, on Staurday morning, I left with this...

The white one...  :P  Just one number... 12 Kgs Soon to be at the slope for the maiden voyage !

Just don't tell the wife, as far as she is concerned, I had all this in a box in the garage for a long time, and finally decided to get them ready...  :P  :D

I'll keep you posted with the progresses...

And you, what's new in the workshop ?  :?:

12 kilos, that's outragous! Who's gonna launch it for you? No good asking Joe, the plane weighs more than he does

Oh, and something else you have to do Fred,......finish designing that 2.5mtr F3b, or what ever type it is. And if you don't finish it soon,..... I tell your wife the truth about these new 'projects' that you've just acquired  Ha!

As for what's new in my workshop. Another Phase 6. My 'old' one finaly became so pached up with repairs that it was more repairs than original plane. And then the other day the ground jumped up and grabbed it as it was doing a loop.
So now that I know how to land these acrobatic darlings in one piece, I must get me another one,...........there're such FUN :D

Oh, I'm getting a new Tx as well, I've out grown the old one. I need some more mixes and proportional crow ability as well :D It also has a snap roll facility. Never seen a glider do a snap roll before! (well, there's a first time for everything aint there?)

K.
Try not to run out of airspeed, altitude and ideas....... all at the same time.

Filppen Hell       . A 1/4 Scale ASH 25. That will be massive. You'll will probably need a glider trailer to transport that Fred.

The only projects I have going at the moment as you know is the K8. But when thats finished I have to repair the Pilatus and my Ruby. Then I need to fix that flippen hand launch glider with the crazy electrics.
After that I don't know what I'm going to build. I have a plan at home for a 1/5 scale Standard Cirrus (3m wingspan). I might build that. The plan is from the same guy that Peter is building his Pilatus from. Mike Trew I think his name is. It will be made all out of wood.

Just to prove I haven't been idle. Here's a picture of my discus launch model. (I know it's not slope, but there's no thermal/flat field section.........Yet!). All scratch build apart from the boom. Vac bagged, foam wing with carbon tow spars. Elevator & fin built same way with live hinges. Fuz (such as there is) is a lost foam effort, although my next may be my first foray in to moulding.

Design is basically the Supergee from Charles River site by Mark Drela, but without flaps and ailerons.
