How wide is a wheel?

(1/2) > >>

Ron:
Hi All,

Just started (at last) my Slingsby Skylark project.
But I have a small problem.
It has one wheel in a box just behind the cockpit area, and I have to make sure there's enough width in the box at the 'keel and formers' stage.
So how wide is a 3" (75mm) wheel?

Searched the web but can't find anyone giving widths. :?

Ron

Fred:
Hi Ron,
Difficult to say as that will depend mostly of the wheels maker...

But by experience, I would say between 20 to 30 mm... :?:
30mm would be the maximum size at this diameter...

Ron:
Hi Fred,

Thanks, that might do.
I've got 32mm between box sides at the moment, provided I put any reinforcing on the outside of the box.

You don't stock wheels I suppose?

Ron

Fred:
Should fit !
No, but we can have them  :D

If you tell me the specs you want.
I'll check in my stock aswell, I might have one to give to you...  :?:

cvanscho:
How wide is a wheel?: about 5.4% of a length of string   :D !
