Vacuum bagging supplies
Fred:
Bill, where do you find Vaccum wing bags ?
I have an address in France, cheap, but now, the shipping for Ireland is going crazy ! :!: :!:
I've heard of some bags you can find in Homebase etc etc :?: Any clues / reference ?
billscottni:
Fred,
do you mean the bag for putting the wing and fibreglass iin and then sucking down to vaccum to give a nice shiny smooth finish?
If so the stuff you are looking for is called layflat tubing. Comes in a variety of sizes on a roll, is basically a tube of heavy gauge plastic. used for things like ptting rolls of carpet in and also used by farmers. Four our purposes th 12" width is the usual.
I've also used the bags you can get for putting you duvet in that you se advertised on the tely sometimes for space saving. If you go that route try and get the ones that use a sealing strip rather than a zip. I got a couple of ebay for under a fiver. Will have a look later and see if I can see any. These are only good for smaller wings.
A google search for layflat tubing will probably find a local supplier.
Mylar or getting the surface finish is the really hard stuff to find. you need it 35 micron thick for best finish
Fred:
Hi Bill,
Yep, for the wings.
The one I use to have is 2euros/m, 60cm wide...
If interrested, I can negociated a group buy, and we share the shipping :?:
Anyway, I have a look for the layflat tubing thing type in Homebase and Ebay :D
I let you know what I found, might interrest someone if that is cheaper.
billscottni:
That's a pretty good price Fred for small quantities.
We would need to know max chord size anyone would be doing to make sure we get wide enough tube. 60cm /27" would do around 22"/45cm wing chord. Plenty for most purposes.
Found this on ebay.co.uk
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/335m-x-15-Layflat-Polythene-Tubing-250-Gauge-62-5mu_W0QQitemZ130327457248QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Packaging_Materials?hash=item1e581f2de0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
15" wide, do about 12"chord. they'd probably add postage as free isonly mainland UK
joe:
For the layflat tubing
http://www.polybags.co.uk/shop/standard-layflat-tubing-7-15-wide_c1015.htm
10" x 120 gauge x 700m long is £34 and shipping is £8
That would do us a life time. Not sure if this is heavy enough gauge??
Count me in. I would like to get into vacuum bagging.
