Depron Edge540 build
joe:
First let me say a big thank you to Levi Jordan of 3DFoamy http://www.3dfoamy.com/ for making his plans available.
This is his 1 metre Edge 540.Built from 6mm depron.
I downloaded the plan(for free!) and printed it out on a standard printer.Trimmed and stuck all the printed sheets together.Laid out the plan on top of a sheet of depron and marked out the lines on the depron beneath using firstly a very small watchmakers screwdriver and then with the plan still in place, I makered all the points again with a pen to make the indents easy yo see.Removed the plan and joined the dots. Then I cut out the pieces with a scalpel.
Thats about as far as I've gottin'

So glued it all together with 5 min epoxy.Added a 4mm carbon rod to the underside of the wing.Made a little mount for the outrunner from light ply and glued that in place.Screwed on the motor.Stuck the servos on with extra strong no more nails tape(i think thats what it is),very handy for servos.Made all the control rods and connections,push-pull for the rudder using fishing line.Slapped on a 10x4.7 prop and a coat of paint! Et Voila!
Thinking about changin' the engine
Fred:
:D :D
Look very Good indeed !
The new motor may not be powerfull enough for a torque roll I think...
But now, we want a video !

joe:
Yeah i've thought about it and i think your right Fred.
I think i'll have to go petrol for this one!
Fred:
Yep, and even with that, the Edge might be still tail heavy !
By the way, what did you use for painting ?
Fred
